What Is On His Mind?
Dearly beloved of God, God our Father is the same God today He has ever been; He does not change.
God told Israel, “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end [an end that He gave them to hope for].” Jeremiah 29:11
In this instance God was speaking of delivering them from their captivity from Babylon. He said that He would visit them and perform His good Word toward them, and cause them to return to their land. His Word tells us what He was thinking, and He performed it as He said He would.
No one knows what another person is thinking unless they tell you what is on their mind, even so no one knows what God is thinking unless He tells them what is on His mind. He revealed this information to us by the revelation of His Word.
If we confess Jesus as Lord and believe that God raised Him from the dead, we will be saved. Our expected end is salvation.
God would have all men to be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth. Whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
No one who believes on him will not be put to shame [by disappointed expectations]. The same Lord of all is rich to all who call on him. In fact, everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. That’s what is on God’s mind. He tells us about our expected end.
God says, “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways,” saith the LORD. “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts.” Isaiah 55: 8
The context concerns God sending Israel their Messiah, and His making an everlasting covenant with them, even the sure mercies of David. That was what was on His mind concerning them.
What does God our Father think about us? What is hidden cannot be known, but once He reveals it we can know it.
“But as it is written, ‘Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love Him.’ However, God has revealed those things to us by His Spirit…” I Corinthians 2:9, 10a
God is the One that originated this information and He communicated it to us. We received this information from God so that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by Him.
He reveals what is on His mind concerning those who are in Christ.
“’Who has known the mind of the Lord that he may instruct Him?’ We, however, have the mind of Christ.” We know what is on His mind because He has revealed it.
Dearly beloved, we know what God has in mind concerning us: we are justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.
We have the remission of sins that are past through His forbearance. He has forgiven us by the riches of His grace, which He abounded to us in Christ.
We are justified and made righteous in Christ; there is no more condemnation to those in Christ Jesus.
We are redeemed, and sanctified, holy, and without blame, and unimpeachable in His sight.
In Christ we have access to God by the spirit, we are God’s dwelling place now.
Our expected end is salvation; He sealed us with the holy spirit for the inheritance that is coming. In Christ we have the victory over sin and death, eternal life, and we will be transformed to have glorious new bodies like Christ’s glorious body when he comes to gather us up to him.
We will acquire the glory of the Lord Jesus Christ, and it will take the Father the ages to come to show us the exceeding riches of His grace in kindness to us in Christ! We will inhabit new heavens and the new earth, and we will see God make all things new again.
We are God’s dearly beloved children, and He highly favors us in Christ. This is what is on God’s mind concerning us, dearly beloved.
