Who Did He Say He Is?
Dearly beloved of God, those who know God’s name will put their trust in Him because He has never, nor ever will forsake them who seek Him.
God calls Himself by many names that express who He is; one name is simply not enough to express it. In the Bible, when God names something, the name defines some aspect of who and what it is.
God reveals who He is in the Scriptures of truth. He is Elohim, the Creator of the heavens and the earth; the supreme supernatural Spirit being who alone has the power to create.
The heavens and earth did not exist until He brought it into existence. He laid its foundation.
He is the Most High God! He is not like gods that are invented out of men’s imagination and then given the lifeless form of an idol. Our God is the Most Powerful God!
Our God is the One True Living God. He is not a deaf and dumb lifeless idol which was made out of things He created.
God is Jehovah; He is the LORD our God. Jehovah is God in relationship to His people. He is the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, the God who made His covenant with the children of Israel, and He is the God of the new covenant. His Word is His Will, and He bonds Himself to keep it.
He is El Shaddai, the Almighty God who defends, supports, and supplies His people’s every need.
God said unto Moses, “I AM THAT I AM.” YHWH comes from “hayah,” which expresses, “I shall be or become.” What He would become is not expressed here.
What did He become? He became the God that led them out of bondage. He redeemed them with a stretched out arm. He led them through the sea on dry ground, and destroyed the Egyptian army that pursued them into the sea. He fed them with manna from heaven, and gave them water out of the rock. He became their deliverer, their defender, the supplier of their every need.
God said, “And I will take you to me for a people and I will be to you a God: and ye shall know that I am the LORD your God.”
What did He become? He became their God so that they had no need for any other gods. The Creator of the heavens and the earth, the Most High God, the One True Living God, the LORD God Almighty became their God.
Dearly beloved, this God has become God our Father. He is the Father of the Lord Jesus Christ, and He is now our Father.
God our Father is Spirit and He made us His children by giving us the gift of holy spirit. We are born again of His spirit, and as His children we are His heirs, and joint heirs with Christ.
We are the workmanship of the Creator. He created us in Christ Jesus to be a new creation as His beloved children, and we are highly favored in His sight.
It was the good pleasure of His will to give us an entrance into the kingdom of His beloved Son by the new birth, and to bless us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realm. He freely gives us all things with His beloved Son.
Our Father is the Almighty God that defends, supports, and supplies our every need. He is our sufficiency in all things, all the time. He delights in our prayers: His words, not mine.
Our God is light in whom there is no darkness, not even a shadow of turning. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever. He is today Who He has ever been.
Our God is the Just God, and He is faithful to keep His Word. He is able and willing to do what He said He will do; it is the good pleasure of His will.
Our Father is the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort. Go to Him.
God our Father is the God of peace, of love, of mercy, of grace, of forgiveness, of power, of righteousness, of healing, the God of the hope, and so much more.
Our God is the God of resurrection life and He has given the Lord Jesus Christ that power.
God will send the Lord Jesus Christ to raise the dead in Christ and transfigure those yet alive to have glorious bodies like his glorious body. The Lord will gather us up to him. It will then take our Father the ages to come to show us the exceeding riches of His grace in kindness to us in Christ.
God our Father will make all things new again in a new heaven and a new earth in which His justness dwells. God Himself will be with His people, and be their God, and He shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain for the former things will pass away. He will make all things new again.
He that comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. We walk with Him by believing what He says; without believing it is impossible to please Him.
The God of peace will quickly crush Satan under your feet. Rejoice.
Dearly beloved, this God is our God. When you know His name, you will put your trust in Him; you will not be disappointed in your expectations. We need no other gods because He is God our Father.
