The Son Made the Father Known
Dearly beloved of God, no one has seen God at any time. The only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, which is in the bosom of the Father, he has declared Him [See John 1:18].
How did Jesus Christ declare God? He spoke the words his Father gave him to speak, and he did nothing of himself; he did the works his Father gave him to do. He did not come to do his own will, but the will of the Father Who sent him.
Jesus spoke the words His Father gave him to speak. Let’s consider his testimony.
“For he [Jesus Christ] whom God has sent speaks the words of God: for the Spirit [God] does not give [Ellipsis: the words of God] by measure unto him. John 3:34
The Lord Jesus Christ said, “My doctrine is not mine, but His that sent me, If any man will do His will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it is of God, or whether I speak of myself.” John7:16, 17
“I speak to the world those things which I have heard of Him. They understood not that he spake to them of the Father.” John 8:26b, 27
“When you have lifted up the Son of man, then shall you know that I am he, and that I do nothing of myself; but as my Father has taught me, I speak these things.” John 8:28
“I speak that which I have seen with my Father [the One True Living God]: and you do that which you have seen with your father [the devil: see verse 44].” John 8:38
“He that is of God hears God’s words: you [these scribes and Pharisees] therefore, hear them not, because you are not of God.” John 8:47
“He that rejects me, and receives not my words, has one that judges him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.
For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent me, He gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak.
And I know that His commandment is life everlasting: whatsoever I speak therefore, even as the Father said unto me, so I speak.” John 12:48-50
“Believe thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? The words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself; but the Father that dwells in me, He does the works.” John 14: 10
“He that loves me not, keeps not my sayings: and the word which you hear is not mine, but the Father’s which sent me.” John 14: 24
“For I have given them the words which Thou [his Father] gave me…” John 17: 8
“I have given them Your [his Father’s] words…” John 17: 14a
Jesus Christ spoke what His Father told him to speak. He also did nothing of himself.
“My meat is to do the will of Him that sent me, and to finish His work.” John 4:34
He said, “The son can do nothing of himself, but what he sees the Father do: for what things soever He does, these also does the Son likewise.” John 5:19
“I can of mine own self do nothing; as I hear I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of Him that sent me.” John 5:30
“He that sent me is with me: the Father has not left me alone; for I do always those things that please Him.” John 5:29
“I have finished the work which Thou gave me to do.” John 17:4b
“It is finished.” John 19: 30
Jesus Christ declared his Father by his words and his works. He worked in concert with His Father, always doing His will.
He could do nothing of himself, but the Father gave him the power and authority to accomplish His Will.
All judgment was committed unto him by the Father.
The Father determined that salvation was by Jesus Christ’s accomplishments, not ours. "That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
The dead people in every grave will hear his voice and will come forth at his command.
He will transform us to have glorious bodies like his glorious body according to the energizing by which he is able to subordinate all things to himself.
We can do nothing without him, dearly beloved, but we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us.
