Understanding the Will of the Lord

Dearly beloved of God, our God is the God of peace, the God of love, the God of patience and consolation, the God of the hope; He is the Father of mercies and the God of all comfort, the God of all grace, the God of glory. This God is our God and He does not change.

The will of this God concerning those who are in Christ does not change either.

“In love, He determined beforehand for us to have sonship to Himself through Jesus Christ in accordance with the good pleasure of His will unto the praise of the glory of His grace [favor], by which He highly favored us in the beloved one [Jesus Christ].” Ephesians 1:5 and 6 WT, Rev. Cummins

God determined beforehand for those who believed in Christ to be highly favored with sonship. Romans 8:29 refers to this also. He did this by the good pleasure of His will.

“With all wisdom and prudence, He has made known to us the mystery of His will in accordance with His good pleasure, which He Himself purposed in him [the Christ], so that in the administration of the fullness of the times He might bring all things together under one head in the Christ, that is, the things in heaven and the things upon the earth in him [the Christ].” Ephesians 1:8 b-10 WT

He revealed the mystery of His will; it is no longer a mystery. He has made known to us the future glory that is coming in the Christ. He told us the end from the beginning.

“In him [the Christ], we were also chosen, which was determined beforehand in accordance with the purpose of Him Who works all things according to the deliberation of His own will, that we who previously hoped in the Christ should be unto the praise of His glory.” Ephesians 1:11, 12 WT

God did the choosing in Christ. He determined beforehand that all who confessed Jesus as Lord and believed that God raised him from the dead will be saved. This was according to His will, His plan, and His purpose in Christ.

“In him [the Christ] you also, after you heard the word of the truth, the gospel of your salvation [deliverance], having also believed in him, were sealed with the holy spirit of promise, which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the acquisition, unto the praise of His glory.” Ephesians 13 and 14 WT

In these few verses we have “the good pleasure of God’s Will” revealed, “the mystery of His will” revealed, and “the counsel of His will” concerning our inheritance in Christ revealed.

Everything we are and hope for is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
The revelation of God’s Will tells us that we were blessed in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realm, we are holy and without blame in him, in Christ we have sonship, we have redemption and the forgiveness of sin, we were sealed with the holy spirit as the down payment of our inheritance until we acquire it, and all of these things were done according to God’s purpose in Christ Jesus... and these are only the opening verses of chapter one.

Who are we to deserve such grace and coming glory? These things reflect the goodness of God, not our worthiness. What do we have that we did not receive? Nothing! All of it is ours by the exceeding riches of His grace, mercy, and love; it is all by the good pleasure of His Will.

When Christ returns and we acquire our inheritance in him it will take our God the ages to come to demonstrate the exceeding riches of His grace in kindness to us in Christ Jesus.

“Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.” Ephesians 5:15

The only way to know the Will of God is to know the Word of God and He has revealed it to us, dearly beloved. Where else will you find these great and precious promises?

Now we are to do the will of God from the heart, not with eye service as men pleasers, but as the servants of Christ doing the will of God from the heart, with good will doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men. See Ephesians 6:1-9

Since we understand the will of God and His goodness to us in Christ, now we should live to do the will of God from the heart, not the will of the flesh. Be transfigured by the renewing of your mind so that you may prove what is the good, well-pleasing, and mature will of God in your life. We walk by believing God at His Word.

Our God is the God of peace, the God of love, the God of patience and consolation, the God of the hope; He is the Father of mercies and the God of all comfort, the God of all grace, the God of glory. You see Who He is reflected in His Word and His Will concerning Christ and the members of his body.

Dearly beloved, don't be unwise; understand what the will of he Lord is. Live to do the good pleasure of His will; live love.
