The Good Pleasure of His Will

Dearly beloved of God, the Word of God instructs us to ardently wait for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ from heaven. Our hope is one of confident expectation, and we are promised that we will not be disappointed in our expectation when he comes.

To wait does not mean to have a vague longing, but to wait with assurance and have the persuasion of the nearness and reality of his coming.

We through the new birth spirit patiently wait for the hope of righteousness by believing.

We confessed Jesus as Lord and we are to walk in the new birth reality by believing the Word of God until he comes.

God made Jesus both Lord and Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at His right side in the heavenlies. We are to walk in his lordship by believing until he returns to gather us up to him.

When Christ Jesus our Lord returns we will appear with him in glory. We will receive the salvation we hope for. We will receive the redemption of our bodies, for he will transform these vile bodies (meaning that they are subject to death) to be like his glorious body having everlasting life. The Father gave him this vast power.

Dearly beloved, our salvation is nearer than when we first believed. It is time to awake from slumber; the night is well advanced, and the day is drawing near; let’s walk in the lordship of Jesus Christ; he is coming!

You see dearly beloved, all that we hope for and are is in Christ Jesus our Lord; none of it is of ourselves. All of it is the result of his work and accomplishments; not ours.

Jesus Christ paid the price for our justification and salvation and he will return to save us. He is our hope of glory. He is the only one that can release us from the clutches of death. He is the only one that has the power to transform these death doomed bodies to be like his glorious body. His Father gave him this vast power.

By the grace of God we will acquire the glory of the Lord Jesus Christ. We have nothing apart from him, and there is no hope in any other. We should walk worthy of such a blessed hope. What do we have that we did not receive?

God determined, purposed, and planned for all of this in Christ Jesus our Lord. Our salvation, sonship, hope of glory, and inheritance in Christ Jesus is God's Will.

Dearly beloved, our sonship, future glory, and inheritance are all "by the good pleasure of the Father’s will", and "according to His good pleasure which He purposed in Himself", and "according to the purpose of Him Who works all things after the counsel of His own will." Read Ephesians chapter one.

Ephesians throws a different light on God’s Will from that which many hold. This is not the will of an angry judge or the despot rule of a tyrannical king; this is the will of a Father that is infinitely good, kind, and loving.

He blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realm, and reserves an inheritance for us that is incorruptible, and undefiled, and that will not fade away; a hope of everlasting glory for His children. He will provide all it for us by means of His exceeding great grace that He purposed in Christ Jesus our Lord.

We were unworthy of all of this, but He made us worthy in Christ. Our past sins did not hinder His grace; He freely gives us all things with Christ in spite of our shortcomings and failings. There is no more condemnation to those who are in Christ and we will be glorified with him as heirs.

Our Father’s good will toward us in Christ conveys His loving kindness and tender mercies, not only today but in the ages to come. He will demonstrate the exceeding riches of His grace in kindness to us in Christ as our loving Heavenly Father.

Dearly beloved, God’s Will is rooted in His good pleasure, His grace and kindness and love. If that is not enough, the purpose of the ages which He purposed in Christ Jesus our Lord cannot be altered. His Will is immutable. Has He spoken and shall He not do it? Nothing can keep Him from His purposes in Christ.

He will bring the good pleasure of His will to pass by His exceeding great power because of His exceeding great love for us.

Dearly beloved, we are not to be unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is. May we live unto the praise of His glory until we are received up in glory.
