All He Can Do Is Tell Them

Dearly beloved of God, God will have all men to be saved, and to come to the knowledge of the truth. You would think people would want to know about this.

He has revealed His will to people ever since the beginning. He has not hidden His Word and Will to them.

When against all odds, He delivered Israel from their captivity in Egypt, He said, “…I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live.” Deuteronomy 30:19

God gave them a choice. He gave them His Word, He has the power to perform it, and He is willing to perform it to bless His people.

When Zedekiah was king over Judah and Jerusalem, we read:

“And the LORD God of their fathers sent to them by his messengers, rising up betimes, and sending; because He had compassion on His people, and on His dwelling place….” II Chronicles 36:15

Why did He send them His Word by His messengers the prophets? Because He had compassion on them. How did they respond?

“But they mocked the messengers of God, and despised His words, and misused his prophets, until the wrath of the LORD arose against His people, till there was no remedy.” II Chronicles 36:15

If they chose not to listen to His messengers, there was no remedy; there was nothing more He could do to keep them out of the soup. They went into captivity.

“To whom shall I speak, and give warning, that they may hear? Behold, their ear is uncircumcised, and they cannot hearken: behold, the word of the LORD is unto them a reproach; they have no delight in it.” Jeremiah 6:10

God wanted to warn them to get them out of trouble, yet His Word was a reproach to them; it was the object of their scorn.

“Since the day that your fathers came forth out of the land of Egypt unto this day I have even sent unto you my servants the prophets, daily rising up early and sending them: Yet they hearkened not unto Me, nor inclined their ear, but hardened their neck: they did worse than their fathers.” Jeremiah 7:25, 26

They chose to reject His words, and not to listen to Him, therefore, the truth of His Word perished in their day.

God sent His Son Jesus Christ to declare Him, but they murdered him. God still did not turn His back on them.

After God raised His Son from the state of death, God instructed him to send His promise to them. Jesus Christ was to send them power from on high, which he said was to be baptized with the holy spirit.

Peter explained that what the people saw and heard at the Feast that day confirmed that God raised Jesus from the dead, and that He made him both Lord and Christ. God made Jesus Christ Lord of both the living and the dead.

The people asked them, “Men and brethren, what shall we do?”

“Then Peter said unto them, ‘Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and you shall receive the gift of the holy spirit. For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the LORD our God shall call.’” Acts 2:38 and 39

Despite God’s willingness to bless people, many do not want to hear it; they will not listen to Him.

Dearly beloved, it is appointed unto men to die once, and judgment will follow when the Lord Jesus Christ carries it out.

Today in the Administration of the Grace of God, those who believe on the Lord Jesus Christ have already been judged; we were justified by Christ’s accomplishments and there is no more condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, only the hope of acquiring the glory of the Lord Jesus Christ.

We are mortal, which means subject to death, and every one of us will die if the Lord tarries, but Jesus Christ will raise the dead in Christ when he returns for the Church. We have the Word of the Lord on it, the same as Jesus Christ had God’s commandment to him that God would raise him from the dead.

“For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trumpet of God: and the dead in Christ will rise first: then we which are alive, and remain, shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words." I Thessalonians 4: 16-18

If He had not given us these words we would be ignorant of His will. We would not know that eternal life is available, and how to be delivered from the state of death, but He gave us His Word and made it plain that He wants all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.

There is no other way for a person to escape the state of death than believing on the Lord Jesus Christ.

Dearly beloved, one would think that people would want to know God’s will on this subject and come to a knowledge of the truth. All He can do is tell them. If you confess Jesus as Lord and believe that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. You would think they would want to know.
