Which is Greater: Our Fears or Our God?

Dearly beloved and highly favored by God, I would like to read God’s Word with you this morning about being afraid, and what God says about it.

“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” II Timothy 1:7

There is the truth. We must decide to believe it. God does not want us to live with fear in our lives.

“So you have not received a spirit of bondage to again cause fear, but you have received a spirit of sonship [making you sons], whereby we shout, “Abba,” that is, “Father.” Romans 8:15 WT

God does not want us to in bondage and afraid; this is not His will for us. In fact, He is the source of our deliverance from the things that make us afraid. Go to Him.

“I sought the LORD, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears.” Psalm 34:4

He did not teach us how to live with our fears, He delivered us from all of the things that make us afraid. Go to Him and get His help.

“Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” John 14:27

Jesus Christ made it available to not be troubled or afraid. Guard your heart by renewing your mind to God’s Word and believing it.

“Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me….” Psalm 23:4

He feared no evil, not even death, because God was with him. He had God’s resources to support and defend him.

“The LORD is my light and my salvation— whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life— of whom shall I be afraid? Psalm 27:1

“The LORD is with me; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?” Psalm 118:6

We have greater resources than mere mortals; the Almighty God, our Father is our sufficiency in all things. This is why we do not need to be afraid. We do not face our circumstances alone. The LORD God Almighty, the Living God is with you dearly beloved.

“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.” Deuteronomy 31:6

We have to control our thinking and remind ourselves who our God is; He will never leave us or forsake us. Expect Him to perform His Word as He promised.

God will take care of His part; we have to stand, to be strong, and courageous in the face of the adversary’s attacks. We walk with God by believing what He says.

God says that we are more than conquerors through Christ Jesus our Lord. We can choose to believe Him, or to be afraid. The knowledge of the flesh will cause us to be afraid; believing God at His Word is the key to our deliverance.

“The fear of man brings a snare, but whoever trusts in the LORD shall be safe.” Proverbs 29:25

Be safe. God reveals that we don’t need to fear death, or man, or a lack of sufficiency, or enemies, or the adversary; nothing. Why? Because God is with us and for us.

“Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.” So we say with confidence, “The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?” Hebrews 13:5-6

“Be vigilant. Stand fast in the [right way of] believing. Conduct yourselves like mature men. Be strong.” I Corinthians 16:13

“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” Isaiah 41:10

Dearly beloved, listen to Him. He can be trusted. Go to Him; He is present, and He is willing to deliver us. Stand on His Word: He will not fail a word of His promise.

He is able and willing to deliver you from the things that make you afraid; He is our Father! What is too hard for Him? Nothing! End of story. Walk with Him by believing what He says.
