The Truth Will Make You Free
Dearly beloved of God, who do you depend on for your reference for truth? Is it the mainstream media, or an alternative news source? Do you do your own research or simply swallow what you are told?
When it comes to spiritual matters we must ask ourselves the same question; what is our reference for truth? Is it your preacher, pastor, priest, or mullah, or is it the doctrine of your denomination, or the traditions you were taught?
Truth needs no defense; it only needs to be learned. Very few would reject the truth if they were given the proper groundwork for what is being said. People need to learn one step at a time.
Take math for example; we start with elementary concepts and we advance by building on them so we can understand more complex concepts. Learning math may start with something as simple as one apple plus another apple equals two apples, and end up with a concept of physics like E=MC squared. The same principle of learning is true when applied to any other field. This is how education works.
When it comes to Christianity, what source do we depend on for truth? God informs us that He gave us His Word to determine what He wants us to believe concerning Him, the spiritual realm, and all other spiritual matters. This is nonnegotiable.
If we are to have the truth concerning any subject that God speaks about in His Word, every verse concerning the identical subject must agree. They cannot contradict one another if we are to arrive at the truth. If we have fifty verses that agree and one verse does not fit with them, we must work until we find the answer.
The Word of God reveals the Will of God. If we want to understand spiritual matters we have to go to the source, God Himself; He is the One that revealed His Word so that we have the profit He desires we have.
Philosophers, theologians, councils, pope’s, and the like are not God, and if they do not put God’s Word together so that it leads us to God, their dogmas are worthless to us.
Jesus, the Son of God said, “If you continue in my word, then you are my disciples indeed; and you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”
God says that He “would have all men to be saved and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.” Why? Because it will make you free. How free is that?
It is free to be saved and have eternal life; free to be made whole, free to be blessed in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realm, to be complete in Christ Jesus the Lord, to prosper and be in health, free to be healed by the stripes laid on the Lord Jesus’ body when we are ill, to be forgiven by the riches of His grace which God abounded toward us, free to have peace with God, and to be full of joy, free to live without fears and worries, free to have access to the Almighty God as our Father by the new birth spirit, to be endued with power from on high by the gift of holy spirit so that He can lead and guide us, edify and comfort us, and enable us to carry out miracles and healings, and do the works that Jesus Christ did and greater by the nine manifestations of the holy spirit, to have His power of attorney, to have the sonship rights He freely gives each of His children in the new birth, to have all the privileges of being His children, to be heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, to have rewards for faithful service, to be saved from the wrath to come, to have resurrection life, to obtain the glory of the Lord Jesus Christ, and be glorified with him when he comes; to understand that God freely gives us all things with Christ. He gives us all things that pertain unto life and godliness.
Dearly beloved, God wants us to come unto a knowledge of the truth so that we understand these realities. Believing comes by hearing, by hearing the Word of God.
All scripture is God-breathed and it is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in God’s justness so that the man of God is outfitted, completely outfitted unto every good work.
If we listen to fake news it will lead us away from the truth, and make us the captives of religion who live in bondage. If we choose religious dogmas over the truth of God’s Word as our reference for truth concerning spiritual matters we will be turned to fables instead of the truth that will make us free.
It is worth the time and effort to study the Word of God so that we show ourselves approved unto God as workmen that need not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
The truth will make you free, dearly beloved; it will lead you to the One True and Living God.
