More Than Conquerors or Conquered by Fear
Dearly beloved of God, “God did not give us a spirit of cowardice but of power and of love and of sober thinking.”
The Administration of the Grace of God, the Administration of the Mystery of God concerning Christ began when the Lord Jesus Christ poured out the spirit of God on the Feast of Pentecost following Jesus Christ’s resurrection, ascension, and seating in the heavenlies at the right hand of God.
Before his ascension into heaven, Jesus told the apostles to wait for the promise of the Father, which they had heard from him. “John indeed baptized with water but you will be baptized with the holy spirit not many days from now.” Acts 1:5
Jesus said, “You will receive power when the holy spirit comes upon you, and you will be my witnesses….” What did he say they would receive? Luke 24: 49 says that they would “be endued with power from on high.”
After receiving the holy spirit they were no longer enslaved by fear; they became his witnesses, bold witnesses, fearless witnesses.
God did not give His children a spirit of bondage to again cause fear; He gives us a spirit of sonship so we can shout “Abba,” that is “Father!”
“The spirit itself bears witness with our own spirit that we are children of God, and since we are children, then we are heirs also: first of all heirs of God and secondly joint heirs with Christ, so that if we do suffer together, we shall also be glorified together as heirs.” Read Romans 8:15-18 for yourself.
You are now a son of God and God stands with you. God gave His kids power from on high, not a spirit of bondage that again causes us to fear; that spirit comes from our adversary the devil, not from our God.
Time after time when God sent angels to deliver a message to someone they began by saying, “Fear not!”
That same God gave us a spirit of power, of love, and of a sound mind, not a spirit of bondage that again causes us to fear. We walk by believing, not by fear; they are opposites, dearly beloved.
God is the Almighty God, the Lord of Hosts, and that God is our Father! What is too hard for Him? Has He spoken and will He not make it good? The One True and Living God is our Father, and He stands with us!
“I sought the LORD, and He heard me, and delivered me from all my fears.” Psalm 34:4
God delivers us from everything that makes us afraid, whether it is Covid, shut downs, the economy, foreign enemies: whatever it may be, He is our Delivering God.
When we are tempted to be afraid we trust in Him. When we call upon Him He hears and delivers us by His mighty power.
What changed Peter from being a vacillating disciple to a bold, fearless witness for the Lord Jesus Christ? The gift of holy spirit he received when he was born again changed him.
Dearly beloved, you are a son of God; you have power from on high. Fear Not! Boldly walk out on God’s Word.
The adversary controls people with fear, or by buying them off. Our nation needs sons of God that are not afraid. He has not given us the spirit of cowardice; He gave us a spirit of power, of love, and of a sound mind.
Isaiah 19 tells us how the once mighty nation of Egypt was ruined by a perverse spirit. It made fools out of their princes. It caused them to err in every work, and to be afraid.
“Damascus is waxed feeble, and turneth herself to flee, and fear hath seized on her: anguish and sorrows have taken her, as a woman in travail.” Jeremiah 49:24
Fear seized another city, Damascus, the most important city of Syria. Fear weakened her, and caused her to faint, to have anguish and sorrow, and to flee.
“Say ye not, A confederacy, to all them to whom this people shall say, A confederacy; neither fear ye their fear, nor be afraid.”
We do not have to be afraid and fear what others around us fear. Stand on the truth of God’s Word; He will deliver us by His mighty power today as He has always delivered those that trust in Him.
Be strong in the Lord and in the exerted strength of His might for us. We wrestle against the rulers of the darkness of this world,
against wicked spirits from on high, not men, and God has given us the victory over them through Christ Jesus our Lord.
Fear not, dearly beloved of the Lord, he that is in us is greater than he that is in the world. Stand as the son of God you are. You stand, and He will fight for you.
We are more than conquerors THROUGH HIM THAT LOVED US. It is Christ in you, the hope of glory! Fear not; stand!
We are more than conquerors through Christ, no longer conquered by fear.
