Today is for the Living
Dearly beloved of God, today is today, not yesterday or tomorrow. Past wins or losses are just that – past! Today is the only day for the living.
Tonight when you go to bed, let go of today’s work and concerns, they are over and done with. Give them to the Father and sleep like a baby.
In the morning arise from your sleep, give glory to God, and ask, “Father what can I do for you today?”
Yesterday and tomorrow are not today; you cannot live in them any longer. They are not for the living.
I know too many wonderful people who are prisoners of the past. The past plays on a constant loop in their minds over and over again. They live in the past as though it is the present. That is a prison! Whether the past was good or bad it is not today. We can only live today, dearly beloved.
“And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we [first] believed.”
The Lord Jesus Christ is coming, and when he comes we will obtain the salvation we have longed for and hoped. Live today in light of his coming; it could be today, dearly beloved.
Live today as saved ones, as sons of the Living God, as God’s dearly beloved household, as heirs of God, and joint heirs with Christ. Pray, study, stand, and speak God’s Word having believing confidence in Him. Practice the presence of God TODAY.
Anticipate the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ with great expectation and confidence, and let it be the impetus for how we live today. This future reality is as certain to occur as Jesus Christ’s first coming occurred. Since we believe he is coming, live like it.
The Lord Jesus Christ died for us, that, whether we are awake and watching spiritually, or we are asleep at the switch spiritually, we will live together with him when he comes to gather us together up to meet him in the air. Such grace!
He IS coming, dearly beloved. Be sound minded; sober and awake, and live today as though it will be your last! Who knows, it may be.
“Beloved, we are the children of God now, and (although it has not yet been revealed what we shall be) we know that when he [Jesus Christ] is revealed, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is. Anyone who has this hope in him purifies himself, even as he is pure.” I John 3:2, 3
Think of that; anyone who has this hope in Jesus Christ purifies himself, even as he is pure! We may live in this world, but we are not of it, dearly beloved. Be full of joy today and rejoice in our hope in Christ.
In Christ we are sanctified by believing in Jesus Christ and by receiving the gift of holy spirit. We will inherit the kingdom of God. God has set us apart from what is common or unclean by Jesus Christ’s accomplishments. Since we are sanctified as the saints of God, live as His holy ones.
Today we are alive, live in this day, dearly beloved, it is the only one
we have.
Whatever you do, do heartily as to the Lord and not to people, knowing that you will receive the reward of the inheritance from the Lord, so serve the Lord Christ.
Forget those things which are behind and stretch forward toward the things that are ahead; press toward the goal for the prize of the upward calling of God in Christ Jesus.
Today is yours, dearly beloved, live it to the fullest.
