Glorious New Covenant Realities
Dearly beloved of God, the same God that became Israel’s God, and they became His people in the old covenant, is the same God that became our Father, and we became His children in the new covenant.
Under the old covenant God gave Israel the Law. In the new covenant God gave us the gift of holy spirit.
As Gentiles we had no part in the old covenant; it was with the nation of Israel.
The new covenant of the spirit is with individuals from both Israel and from the Gentiles who confess Jesus as Lord and believe that God raised him from the dead. Previously this had been a mystery hidden in God.
Both Judeans and Gentiles who believe in the Lord Jesus Christ are made one new man, members of God’s household, citizens of heaven, God’s sanctuary, and His dwelling place by the spirit.
God delivered Israel from their captivity in Egypt with marvels. The destroyer passed over them, and God healed them all. He destroyed the Egyptian army while Israel walked through the sea on dry ground. Then, at Mount Sinai God made His covenant with them, and He gave them the law.
God delivered us when we were born again of the spirit from God. He called us, conformed us to the image of his Son, He justified us, and glorified us with Christ. In fact, He will freely give us all things with His beloved Son.
When we were born again of the spirit from God we entered the kingdom of God as His children. God delivered us from the power of darkness and transferred us into the kingdom of His beloved Son.
At some future point in time we will physically be transferred into the kingdom when God sends His Son to gather us together up to meet him in the air.
Both the dead in Christ and those of us that are yet living will be transfigured to be like Christ and gathered together up to meet him in the air. We will acquire the glory of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Under the new covenant of the spirit, we are sealed with the holy spirit of promise, which is the earnest of our inheritance until the Lord Jesus Christ comes to redeem his acquisition.
The new covenant of the spirit is far superior to the old covenant of the law. Jesus Christ was the end of the law for righteousness. The new covenant of the spirit is an everlasting covenant that has no end.
The new birth is the first phase of the new covenant, and it is an accomplished reality.
The gathering together is the second phase, and it will be the physical transfer into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord Jesus Christ; it is a certain future reality. Rejoice, dearly beloved, he is coming!
God raised up Moses to lead Israel into the promised land, and He raised up Christ from the dead to lead us into the heavenly realm.
Moses had the spirit from God on him, and later 70 others out of the more than two and a half million Israelites had the spirit upon them. Each and every one of us in the body of Christ, the Church, are born again of God’s spirit.
God made us able ministers of the new covenant; not of the letter, but of the spirit; for the letter kills, but the spirit gives life. The new covenant of the spirit is much more glorious than the old covenant of the law.
The Lord Jesus did not lead us through the sea; he led us from death unto life, and he will lead us into heaven itself when he comes!
We will be transfigured from the glory of the new birth to acquire the glory of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Dearly beloved, it will take God our Father the ages to come to display the exceeding riches of His grace in kindness to us in Christ Jesus.
These are only a few of the glorious realities of the new covenant of the spirit, dearly beloved.
