If Only
Dearly beloved of God, I occasionally hear people say how wonderful it would be if God would only speak to them.
“For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord . . . .” I Thessalonians 4:15. God has spoken to us.
“Who [God] will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.” I Timothy 2:4
God originated the information He revealed in His Word. He has spoken to us, and He has given us the revelation of His Will in writing.
God has spoken to us. It does not matter that the information He revealed was written in a book, God is the Originator of the information he had recorded in His Word.
If a President sent a message would it matter if he sent a courier with a letter that he had dictated, or he made a phone call to send the message, or he delivered an address on T.V., or if he had an envoy deliver the message in person? However he chose to communicate the message, the message would be the same.
God has as much right as the President to send a message as He determines to send it. He sent His Word by apostles, and prophets, and He instructed them to write it down.
Ephesians 3:2 and 3
If in fact you have heard about the administration of the grace of God which is given to me for you (namely that by revelation the mystery was made known to me even as I briefly wrote previously),
How did Paul get the information about the mystery that he wrote about? God revealed it to him, and he wrote it down. Verse 5 tells us that God originated the information concerning the mystery, and He revealed it, “to his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit.” God has spoken to us.
God spoke to Jeremiah, and Jeremiah dictated what God said to him to Baruch the son of Neriah, and Baruch wrote it down. The record is in Jeremiah 36.
God gave His Word to Moses. “And the LORD said unto Moses, Write this for a memorial in a book….” Exodus 17:14. Moses wrote down the information which God originated. He recorded it in a book.
II Peter 1:21 WT
For the prophecy [of the Scripture] was not brought at any time by the will of man, but rather holy men {Or/ men from God} spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit.
God was the source of the information, and it came by His Will. He communicated it to holy men of God. There were many writers of the Word of God, but they all wrote what God instructed them to write.
II Timothy 3:16, says, “All scripture is given by inspiration of God….”
The words, “inspiration of God,” are the Greek word “theopnuestos,” which means God-breathed. All scripture is God-breathed. God was the Originator of the information recorded in the Scriptures.
The Lord Jesus Christ said, “It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.” Matthew 4:4.
We would be wise to take God at His Word as the Lord Jesus Christ did. Dearly beloved, God has spoken to us.
I Thessalonians 2:13 WT
For this reason, we also thank God constantly, because when you received the Word of God that you heard from us, you did not accept it as the word of men but, as it truly is, the Word of God, which also works in you who believe.
I Thessalonians 1:1 tells us that they heard the Word of God from Paul, Silvanus (Silas), and Timothy, and it worked in those who believed it.
It is not the messenger that is important, it is the Word of God that they speak that is important. God originated the information holy men of God spoke.
If people do not listen to God, and believe what He says, they will not know about the resources that are available to them from God.
Jeremiah 2:13
Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me, Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure:
No one has to be ignorant. God has spoken, and it is recorded in the Scriptures. God declared the end from the beginning.
God’s counsel shall stand. His Will shall be done whether we believe it or not.
God is the Originator of the information He revealed in His Word. His Word is true and reliable. God’s knowledge is vastly superior to man’s limited knowledge. God is God: all-powerful, all wise, and eternal. He has spoken to us, and we should take Him at His Word.
When we open the Word of God, He may as well be standing before us, and speaking directly to us. The message is the same whether we read it from His Word, or if He had spoken to us in person.
Believing comes by hearing, by hearing the Word of God.
God has spoken to us, dearly beloved of God. Open His Word and believe what He says.
