Why Division?

Dearly beloved, the church is one body in Christ and Christ is the head of that body. Why then is there division among God’s people?

The answer is given in Genesis 3 onward. The old serpent, the devil is behind it.

He is the one who slandered God and caused rebellion among the angels. He was behind the seduction of Eve in the garden getting her to consider his lies. He was the one that turned God’s people against Him by convincing them they needed a king like the nations, instead of listening to Him.

The old serpent, the devil, is the one behind Israel’s division into the northern ten tribes and the southern two tribes. He is the one that put his people into leadership positions in Israel to lead them away from God.

The devil is the one that set up Jesus Christ’s torture and crucifixion. He is the one behind the division in the church today.

The devil is behind the division in the church into denominations, in nations, in communities, and in marriages and families.

The devil is the accuser, the liar, the deceiver, the tempter, the murderer. When he isolates some of God’s people from others he has achieved his aim. He uses tools like character association, slander, lies, backbiting, gossip, partisanship, cliques, etc. to divide one from another. He is the one that sends his ministers with another gospel. He is the spirit that gets people to bite and devour one another.

Division is the result of unbelief. If people believed the Word of God, there would not be any division. We can be part of the solution by speaking the truth in love and living it with believing.

"There is one body, and on spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all." Ephesians 4:4-6

Dearly beloved, God made one body in Christ and He made Christ the head of it. Put forth a diligent effort to keep the unity from the spirit in the uniting bond of peace. Walk in the love of God dearly beloved.
