The Victory over Sin and Death
Dearly beloved of God, because of the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead we have the victory over sin and death. The gospel of God concerning Jesus Christ our Lord declares this truth from God in the Church Epistles.
Romans 10:9 declares that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe that God raised him from the dead you will be saved. God gave us this revelation as the standard for being saved, not some religious group.
God validated that Jesus Christ was the Son of God by raising him out from among the dead people. He was the first fruit to rise from the dead. He is the only one to rise from the dead to die no more thus far.
John 3:13 reveals that he is the only man in heaven today. All of the other dead people will remain in the grave until they are released from the state of death by the Lord Jesus Christ at his coming.
The only release from death and the grave is by the Lord Jesus Christ. At his coming he will execute the order from his Father. He will carry out this epic charge by the vast power his Father has given him.
When God raised His Son from the dead He made him both Lord and Christ. Jesus Christ is Lord both of the living and the dead, and every grave will come forth at his command. The Lord Jesus Christ will preside over the resurrections from the dead.
The Lord Jesus Christ will raise the dead in Christ at his coming.
Both the dead in Christ and the living ones who are changed from mortal to immortal ones will be caught up together in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air before the Day of the Lord begins. This is the last event to take place in the Administration of the Grace of God.
Those of the Church have been saved from the wrath to come, which will occur in the Day of the Lord after the gathering together of the Church in the air.
The book of Revelation concerns events that will take place in the Day of the Lord after the Church of the Grace of God is gathered together unto the Lord in the air. This period will be characterized by wrath and judgment, not grace. The Lord will subdue every enemy during this period.
Revelation 11 reveals that during the Day of the Lord two faithful witnesses who are killed for their witness will be raised from the dead and ascend into heaven.
When the Lord Jesus Christ returns to the earth (which is recorded in Revelation 19 and 20) and stands on the Mount of Olives, he will begin his reign on earth.
“The first resurrection” will take place at the beginning of his reign. It is called the first resurrection because it is the first of two mentioned in Revelation 20.
Those who were beheaded for the witness of Jesus and for the Word of God, who did not receive the mark of the beast in the Day of the Lord will be resurrected from the dead, and they will reign with Christ as priests of God and of Christ. These people believed in Jesus Christ during the times of the Gentiles in the Day of the Lord.
Jesus Christ will reign for a thousand years. After the thousand years there will be another resurrection. The dead will stand before the great white throne. The people will be judged according to their works. The just will be separated from the unjust. Those whose names are recorded in the book of life will not die the second death; the unjust will be cast into the lake of fire, and die the second death.
These are the only times that people will be resurrected from the dead to die no more according to God who gave this revelation.
The gospel of God concerning Jesus Christ reveals that he was the one that the prophets foretold that was to come. He was made of the seed of David according to the flesh, and he was marked out as the Son of God with power by God his Father by the resurrection from the dead, Jesus Christ our Lord.
The gospel of God concerning Jesus Christ concerns the administration of the grace of God, which is the administration of the mystery concerning Christ. This revelation is recorded in the books of Romans through II Thessalonians.
The gospel concerning Jesus Christ our Lord reveals everything we need to know about our salvation and sonship to the hope that is laid up for us in heaven and our inheritance. It declares that we will obtain the glory of the Lord Jesus Christ at his coming.
It is quite a gospel, yet many today say, “So what?” They are not concerned about the truth and accuracy of the gospel which came out of God’s own mouth. The gospel is God-breathed.
Dearly beloved of God, Jesus Christ’s death and resurrection from the dead is the basis for everything we have in Christianity from our salvation and sonship to our hope of obtaining the glory of the Lord Jesus Christ at his coming.
Thank God that He gave us victory over sin and death through our Lord Jesus Christ. Come quickly Lord Jesus.
