The Basis for our Peace with God
Dearly beloved of God, let the peace of God rule in your heart. The Lord Jesus Christ is our peace. Through him we have peace with God. God gives us His Word on it. If you want the peace of God to rule in your heart you will have to take Him at His Word, and believe Him.
Romans 3: 24 says: “Being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.” God declared His justness for the remission of sins that are past through His loving kindness and tender mercies.
Then in 5:1 He says: “Therefore being justified by believing, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.”
Justification and forgiveness are the basis for our peace with God.
Why would we not believe Him? All scripture is God-breathed; it came out of God’s own mouth. Why would we doubt Him? His Word reveals His Will to us. God says that we have peace with Him through Christ and his accomplishments.
Peace is rest in contrast to strife. It denotes the absence, or end of strife. There is no strife between God and us; He says so.
Jesus Christ gave his life for us so that we could be justified from sin. He delivered us from the condemnation, and the guilt of sin. He made peace between God and us. God is not mad at us. He will not cast us off. He will never leave us, or ever, ever forsake us. Our Father is for us.
Dearly beloved of God, if you want to walk with God the peace of God must rule in your heart. To be at peace you will have to believe who your Father says you are in Christ.
All the great cargoes of life come over quiet seas. If you want to hear God’s voice you can’t be walking around condemning yourself, thinking of your past sins, or worrying about what other people think about you.
If you want to have the peace of God rule in your heart you must believe who God says you are in Christ.
The old nature of the flesh will remind you of your shortcomings, your past sins, and your failures. God will never do this.
Psalm 103:10-12
10 He hath not dealt with us after our sins; nor rewarded us according to our iniquities.
11 For as the heaven is high above the earth, so great is his mercy toward them that fear him.
12 As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us.
In verse 3 He says He forgives all our sins. He says in Hebrews 8 that He remembers our sins no more. God will never bring them up, so why would you? Sin consciousness will rob you of your peace.
Colossians 2:14, 15
14 Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;
15 And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.
Ephesians 1:7, 8a
7 In whom [the beloved one, Christ] we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of trespasses, according to the riches of his grace [favor],
8a which He caused to abound unto us.
Just look at that wording of these verses! Read them again, and believe what God says to you. Justification and forgiveness are the basis for our peace with God.
God our Father redeemed us and forgave us in Christ by the good pleasure of His Will. It was His idea. He purposed it. He sent His Son to accomplish it. He is the One that determined to have peace with us.
If you want to have to the peace of God in practice you will have to believe what He says instead of letting your carnal mind run wild.
God reveals that you were made the righteousness of God in Christ.
In Christ you stand before God without any sense of sin, guilt, or condemnation. That is your reality now, so lead your thoughts captive to the obedience of Christ.
If you will believe who God your Father says you are in Christ you will be at peace in practice. Let the peace of God rule in your heart, dearly beloved of God.
