A Good Morning Indeed

“Good morning Lord. What can I do for you today?” Dearly beloved, this should be a priority for us regardless of what other things we may do today.

As we open our eyes to a new day, we should also open our hearts to our Heavenly Father. He works in us to will and to do of His good pleasure by the gift of holy spirit we received in the new birth. He gave us the spirit of sonship. Prayer with the spirit is one way He works with us.

“Likewise, the spirit also jointly helps us with our weakness. Moreover, we do not know what we should pray for as necessary, but the spirit itself makes intercession with inexpressible groanings. He Who searches the hearts knows what the thinking of the spirit is, because it makes intercession for the holy [sanctified] ones in accordance with God.” “Copyright 2006 by Walter J. Cummins. I Corinthians 14: 14 and 15 refers to this as “praying with the spirit.” This is one of the nine ways that we can manifest the gift of holy spirit which we received in the new birth. I Corinthians 12:10 refers to it as “speaking in tongues.”

I Corinthians 12:7 says, “But the manifestation of the spirit is given to every man to profit withal.”

Who is given this ability? Each one that confesses Jesus as Lord and believes that God raised him from the dead receives the gift of holy spirit; they are born of the spirit of God and have the same ability to manifest it for profit.

Verse 8 begins with the corresponding conjunction, “For”, which begins to enumerate the nine various profits the spirit in manifestation provides each person. The words “for one” and “to another” in verses 8-10 refer to the various kinds of profit the manifestation of the spirit provides each one in Christ.

Verse 11 concludes, “But all these [all nine manifestations listed in verses 8-10] worketh that one and the selfsame spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will.”

Verse 11 from The Working Translation reads, “The one and the same spirit energizes all these [manifestations], distributing to each person individually even as he wills.” “Copyright 2006 by Walter J. Cummins. All rights reserved.”

To “pray with the spirit” is the same as “speaking by the spirit of God” in 12:3. “For he that speaks in an [unknown] tongue speaks not unto men, but unto God: for no man [speaking] understands [what he is speaking]; howbeit in the spirit he speaks mysteries.” I Corinthians 14:2

Dearly beloved, God not only "shed His love abroad in our hearts by the holy spirit which was given unto us", we are “sealed with the holy spirit of promise” for eternal life. God, our Heavenly Father, gave each of us the same new birth spirit. Furthermore, because of that gift, each of us has the God-given ability to manifest it for profit nine various ways as He energizes it within us. Thank God for the riches of His exceeding great grace!

Ephesians 6:18: “Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints”.

The Divine revelation here instructs us to pray always with every prayer in the spirit. Furthermore, we are instructed to stay on watch; to be tenacious about it; to have resolve in these prayer requests for all the saints.

Dearly beloved, our Father enabled each of us to walk with Him by the spirit and He says that He will energize His spirit within us as we will. He enabled each of us to manifest His spirit for profit. He is the One that exhorts us to pray with the spirit, to speak by the spirit of God to Him, to pray in every prayer by the spirit for all the saints [all of God’s people].

It is definitely a good morning having the resources He gave us for our profit. Utilize them as you walk in the good pleasure of His will today. Good morning, dearly beloved of God!
