World Wisdom Versus God's Wisdom

Dearly beloved, we are not of this world, so do not allow the world to influence your thinking and heart. We no longer walk in the course of this world under the direction of the prince of the power of the air, the old serpent who is the devil. We have been delivered from the power of darkness; we are now citizens in the kingdom of God’s beloved Son.

Why then would we think what those of this world think, or believe the lies by which they are taken prisoner? Why would we want to be led around as if we had a ring in our nose by the ideas that take them captive? We should not be taken in by this kind of thinking.

At times we may believe something because the person who said it is a “friend”, or because we may have known them for years, or we respect them. Perhaps we believe them because they are a family member, or because we are associated with the same organization as they are. Far too many believe something just because many people believe it.

If we find this to be the case, we ought to slow down and take inventory of our thinking patterns and see if what they say aligns with what God says. People change. Organizations change; we see the proof of this every day that passes.

The Word of God remains the same forever. Nothing is more certain than the scriptures. We can trust God to be faithful to His Word, so we ought to study it, so we can understand and believe the Word of Truth.

Just pick a topic, from the Boy Scouts to news organizations, from globalist governance to the definition of marriage, from the platform of political parties to denominational doctrines; they are of the course of this world, they reflect ideas that are of this world, and they come under the influence of the prince of the power of the air.

We are not to be conformed to the ideas of this evil age; we are to be transformed as we renew our thinking processes to think as God thinks. His Word reveals His mind, heart, purposes, plans, and will. We are to cast down anything that exalts itself against the knowledge of God; we are to lead captive every kind of thinking in obedience to Christ.

We live in turbulent times. The adversary wants to bury the truth as he did in the dark ages. The enlightenment he offers is not light, it is darkness and it leads to bondage. On the other hand, the truth of God’s Word will make you free indeed.

We did not receive the spirit of this world when we became children of God; we received the spirit which is of God so that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God. We did not receive the adversary’s word as our only rule for faith and practice, we received the Word of God as the only rule for faith and practice.

When you believe the truth of God’s Word you are a light in this evil world. You are a lighthouse to those lost in the turbulent sea of sin and death. You are a life preserver for those who are being tossed to and fro by every wind of doctrine. God is Light, and you are His light bearers carrying words that can open the eyes of their understanding.

Do not be deceived as Eve was by the devious ideas of the serpent. He seduced her to think his way instead of God’s; calamity resulted. Take every idea back to what God says. Hold them side by side and you will be able to distinguish the light from the darkness.

Dearly beloved, Christ is the power of God and the wisdom of God; the foolishness of God is wiser than man’s wisdom. Boast in His wisdom concerning Christ. He reveals it in His Word.
