The Truth Will Make You Free

Dearly beloved, I remember the day I first heard the Word of truth; it was unlike anything else I had ever heard; furthermore it worked.

I was taking a class on comparative religion in college at the time, taught by a professor who was a Dr. of Philosophy, and a Baptist minister that had converted to Hinduism. I left the class every day frustrated, confused, and wondering if there was any such thing as truth that was absolute and certain; if there was anything I could count on and that did not change from one class to the next.

During this same period, someone shared God’s Word with me and ministered healing to me. I was miraculously healed as I was told to act on the promise of God shared with me. For the first time in my life I knew what the truth was; it sparked a fire inside me.

People often underestimate the power of the truth.

The Lord Jesus said: “If you continue in my word, then are you my disciples indeed; and you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”

The truth makes people as free today as it did the day the Lord said this.

Jesus Christ is the only begotten Son of God; “If the Son therefore shall make you free, you shall be free indeed.” This truth is further explained in the book of Romans.

“But not as the offence [Adam’s offense], so also is the free gift. For if through the offence of one [Adam] many be dead, much more the grace of God, and the gift by grace, which is by one man, Jesus Christ, hath abounded unto many.”

“Therefore as by the offence of one [Adam] judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one [Jesus Christ] the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life.”

“But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life.”

“For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.”

The Lord Jesus Christ made us free from the bondage of sin and death by making the spirit of life available to us - our end is now everlasting life. This was his work, not ours; we received the free gift by grace. He made us free indeed.

Now we can live our lives as the Lord’s freemen regardless of our former condition in the flesh. Whether we are men or women, regardless of the color of our skin, regardless of our nationality, regardless of our previous religious affiliation, the Lord Jesus Christ made us free from sin and death and gave us the hope of everlasting life.

God exhorts us to walk in this liberty. We wake each morning knowing that we have peace with God because of Christ’s work. We have access to God’s throne of grace by the spirit of life that He freely gave us.

The truth is, that in Christ, God encircled us with His grace; we stand in it, we are surrounded by it day after day, even unto eternity.

Dearly beloved of God, we live in the presence of His divine favor today and He will show us all the exceeding riches of His grace in kindness to us in Christ Jesus in the ages to come. Rejoice in the hope of receiving the glory of God.

Just think of the riches of God’s grace we enjoy today; the riches of the spirit of sonship and access to the Heavenly Father, the remission of sins by the riches of His grace, identification with Christ, the nine manifestations of the spirit, answered prayer, the power of attorney that gives us the authority to do the works Jesus Christ did and greater, and on and on; and then, in the ages to come we will acquire the glory of the Lord Jesus Christ. Such exceeding riches of grace are ours, both now and forevermore!

Where do we find these truths revealed? They are only revealed in the Word of God.

Dearly beloved, strive to grow in the truth; it will indeed make you free.
