Keep Yourself Pure as He is Pure
Dearly beloved of God, our Heavenly Father’s divine power has given us all things that pertain to life and godliness through the knowledge of Him that called us to glory and virtue. God gave us all things that pertain to life and godliness.
We received spirit life in the new birth, and that life is eternal life. Godliness is a true, vital, alive, spiritual relationship with God our Father, not a dead religious relationship based on doctrines and traditions that come out of the mind of man.
Since the Father gave us all things that pertain to life and godliness we should walk in these realities.
I John 3, reveals remarkable information from God. “Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God.”
Then, in verse two it says, “Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it does not yet appear what we shall be, but we know that when Christ Jesus the Lord appears, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is.”
If that does not blow your mind, read verse three.
“And every man that has this hope in him [Christ Jesus the Lord, the Son of God] purifies himself, even as he is pure.”
If this was not God-breathed revelation from God’s own mouth, it would be fools play to believe such a fantastic statement, but it is His Word.
It is not by our good works, or by our own righteousness or holiness that we purify ourselves. It is by believing that we are now the children of God, and have the hope of the Lord Jesus Christ's return for us. Everyone that has "this hope in him purifies himself, even as he is pure."
Jesus lived in this world, but he was not of it. We are now the children of God, and we live in this world, but we are not of it either.
Keep your eyes on the Lord Jesus Christ, and his accomplishments, and upon the hope of salvation that is in him. When he appears we will be like him!
Dearly beloved of God, set your affection on things above, not on this evil age. Our hope in Christ will purify you as Christ is pure. Our hope in Christ works for us a far more exceeding and eternal heavy weight of glory. Keep your eyes on that hope, and it will keep you pure.
Christ is coming, but until then we walk with God by believing His Word, not by the things we see. Hold fast the confession of the hope that is in Christ Jesus our Lord with confidence because He is faithful that promised.
God our Father called us by the gospel of God concerning Christ to obtain the glory of the Lord Jesus Christ, and by His exceeding great grace we will acquire it. We are God’s children, His heirs, and heirs together with Christ Jesus. When Christ returns we will be glorified with him! It is Christ in you, the hope of glory, and we are joint heirs with him!
Until Christ returns, it is our Father’s desire that we are strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power. The Father will grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might by His spirit in the inner man. He is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us.
Beloved, faint not! Do not be discouraged by anything happening in the world around you. God your Father is with you, and for you. He is present and we have access to Him by the spirit, and in Christ Jesus the Lord we have boldness and access to the Father with confidence by the right way of believing regarding Christ.
The door to His throne of grace is open to us, dearly beloved, and He exhorts us to come to Him to find mercy and grace for timely help. Go to Him.
All things are yours, dearly beloved. Believe what God instructs us to believe, and walk out on His Word as the super conqueror you are in Christ Jesus. You don’t just have the wind at your back; you have God Almighty and all of His resources behind you.
Abound with thanksgiving, beloved of God. Pray without ceasing. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. The Lord is faithful, Who will strengthen you and guard you from the evil one. May the Lord guide your heart into the love of God and into the patience of Christ. He Who began a good work in you will continue to perform it until the day of Christ Jesus.
“And every man that has this hope in him [Christ Jesus the Lord, the Son of God] purifies himself, even as he is pure.”
Live with the peace of God in your heart and mind. You are absolutely not alone, so practice the presence of God as you walk in these dark times. God your Father will never leave you, nor ever, ever forsake you. You are His dearly beloved, and highly favored child.
