The Choice is Ours
Dearly beloved of God, we have a choice. We can either see things from the world’s point of view, or from God’s point of view. We can believe what our senses tell us, or we can believe what God says.
II Corinthians 4:16-18
16 For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day.
17 For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory;
18 While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.
The outward man perishes, but the inward man is renewed day by day as we believe God at His Word.
Our light affliction is momentary, but it works for us a “far . . . more . . . exceeding . . . and eternal . . . weight . . . of glory.” We are assured of this reality.
The odds against us are no greater than the odds the Apostle faced when he wrote this. The odds we face may overwhelm us from a senses perspective, but God assures us that we have the victory, and that victory is eternal. This is a reality.
As Elisha told Gehazi when the two of them were surrounded by the Syrian army, ”Fear not: for they that be with us are more than they that be with them,” we can assuredly say, “Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.”
The senses present us with one reality, but God presents us with a better reality. Both are realities, which reality will you choose to believe?
Dearly beloved, God is our sufficiency! Compare your temporary situation to the exceeding greatness of God’s power to us who believe, and His willingness to perform His Word! We walk by believing God at His Word, not by sight.
We must continue to look to our Father for His sufficiency. His grace, His Divine favor is sufficient for us regardless of the odds against us! Do not faint in your mind.
The Word of God says that we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. God made this a reality by Jesus Christ's accomplishments. He delivered us from the power of darkness, and transferred us into the kingdom of His beloved Son.
Are we killed all the day long, and accounted as sheep for the slaughter? Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. Why settle for the five senses reality, when a greater reality is present?
Will we go in our own power, or in His power? Will we walk in our will, or in His Will? To walk in His will requires His direction. Go to Him. We have not, because we ask not.
God is the Prime Mover; He gives us His Word, and He brings it to pass as we believe Him. Take Him at His Word.
We can learn from example after example in God’s Word concerning people who walked with God in the face of overwhelming odds against them.
For example, Moses stood between the Red Sea and the pursing Egyptian army; David faced the giant Goliath; Gideon and his 300 men stood against the innumerable odds of the Midianite army; the Apostle Paul was a prisoner on a ship in a Euroclydon (a hurricane in the Mediterranean Sea) for weeks.
God led them, and He gave them His Word in the situations they faced, and delivered them as He said He would. He is willing to do the same for you. Go to Him.
How do you see your situation? Do you see it from God’s perspective, or do you see it from yours? Will you go to the Father and ask for His wisdom, or will you trust in your own? Will you say, “Father, please help me by your mighty power,” or will you settle for what your senses say is inevitable? We have a choice in every situation we face.
God is our Helper. Do not be afraid; go to Him and pray until you have the answers you need. Ask Him for the wisdom you need, the resources you need, the deliverance you need. He will never leave us, or forsake us; He is our Helper.
Trust the LORD with all your heart, and lean not to your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct your path.
You are God’s dearly beloved child. Your Father will lead you, and guide you; He is your Father. You are not alone; He is present, and you have access to Him by the new birth spirit, therefore draw near to the throne of grace so that you may obtain mercy and find grace to help in your time of need. Go to Him.
Why settle for the five senses reality, when God has provided us with a much better, far greater reality in Christ? Selah.
