Realities of Redemption
Dearly beloved of God, “God delivered us from the authority of darkness, and He transferred us into the kingdom of His beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.”
Colossians 1:13 and 14
The Word of God reveals that He originally gave Adam the dominion over every living thing in Genesis 1:26-28. Adam handed over his authority to the old serpent, who is the devil, or Satan when he sinned.
Job 1:12
And the LORD [the One True and Living God] said to Satan, “Behold, all that he [Job] has is in your hand [Satan’s authority]. Only against him do not stretch out your hand.” So Satan went out from the presence of the LORD.
God said that Job was in Satan’s hand, or authority.
Job 1 and 2, sets forth the goodness of God, and the badness of the devil.
God blessed Job with family and prosperity. God put a hedge around Job and his house and all that he had. God blessed the work of his hands, and He increased his possessions in the land. God is only good to those who love Him.
Satan worked to ruin Job. Satan was the one behind the death of Job’s children, and his servants; not the One True God.
Satan destroyed his property and his assets; not the One True God.
Satan is the one that smote Job with boils from the bottom of his feet to the top of his head, and caused his sorrow, pain, and anguish; not the One True God.
Luke sheds more light on the subject.
Luke 4:5 – 7
And the devil took him [Jesus] up into a high mountain, showed unto him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time.
And the devil said unto him, “All this power will l give thee, and the glory of them: for that is delivered unto me; and to whomsoever I will I give it.
If thou therefore will worship me, all shall be thine.”
Adam originally had this authority, but when he sinned he delivered it over to the devil. The devil had the authority, and the glory of all the kingdoms of the world that he offered to Jesus if he would worship him. This is why God said to Satan that all Job had was in his hand, or under his authority.
Before we were saved we walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air [Satan], the spirit that now works in the children of disobedience.
God delivered those who believe in Christ from Satan’s authority of darkness. “God delivered us from the authority of darkness, and He transferred us into the kingdom of His beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.”
We entered the kingdom of God’s beloved Son when we were born again of the spirit from God. We are justified and forgiven and sealed by the new birth spirit for the day of redemption. Our new status in Christ is an accomplished reality.
When God sends His Son on the day of redemption we will physically be transferred into his kingdom. “For so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.” II Peter 1:11
God guarantees this future reality to us in Christ, and by his accomplishments.
We are members of the body of Christ, the Church, and the Father freely gives us all things with His beloved Son.
We are the children of God, heirs of God, and joint heirs with Christ. It is Christ in you, the hope of glory, dearly beloved, and when he gathers us up to meet him in the air we will glorified with him. Nothing can stop what’s coming.
Thank God that we have redemption through Jesus Christ’s shed blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace, which He has abounded to us.
Thank God that in Christ we were sealed with the holy spirit of promise, which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of His glory.
Rejoice, dearly beloved of God, we are guaranteed all the realities of redemption that are in Christ Jesus our Lord, both present and future.
