It Could Be Today!

Dearly beloved, our hope lies in the reality of who we are “in Christ”. There is no hope apart from him. We are joint-heirs with him and we will be glorified together with him.

“That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.”
Ephesians 2:7

It will take the unveiling of eternity for our Father to demonstrate all the treasures that He purposed for us in Christ Jesus. Our Father’s exceeding rich grace concerning His purposes in Christ will be demonstrated in His kindness towards us.

“But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.” I Corinthians 2:9 and 10

It is Christ in you, the hope of glory! Our hope in Christ makes the sufferings of this present time insignificant compared to the glory that shall be revealed in us.

“Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” Philippians 1: 6

Our hope is of salvation, redemption, eternal life, and of obtaining the glory of Christ Jesus our Lord. Our Father loves us, and His only begotten Son gave His life for us. We can be certain that He who began a good work in us will carry it on to its completion, until the coming of Christ Jesus our Lord.

These are the last days before our Lord returns to gather us into the glory that our loving Father has reserved for us in the heavenlies.

“For our citizenship is in heaven; from whence also we wait for a Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ: who shall fashion anew the body of our humiliation, that it may be conformed to the body of his glory, according to the working whereby he is able even to subject all things unto himself.” Philippians 3:20 and 21

When he returns, we will not only be with him, we will be like him!

“Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;” Titus 2:13

It should read, “Looking for that blessed hope and appearing of the glory of the great God even our Savior Jesus Christ.” Jesus Christ’s coming is our blessed hope. His appearing will be the realization of the hope of the glory of God for us. When he comes, it will be to save us.

The Word of God instructs us to look for, to patiently wait for Christ, to ardently expect him.

“. . . and he [Christ] will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting [looking] for him.” Hebrews 9:28

“. . . waiting for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ:” I Corinthians 1:7

“For we through the spirit [by the complete new birth reality] wait for the hope of righteousness by faith.” Galatians 5:5

“And to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, even Jesus, which delivereth us from the wrath to come.” I Thessalonians 1: 10

The one object of hope for the Church is the return of Christ. The Apostles believed that it was imminent. They did not instruct the saints to look for signs and seasons, but for the return of the Lord from heaven.

“If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.” Colossians 3:1

Since we are risen with Christ, we should occupy our thinking with the realities that it involves. We should live as dead men who were raised to life! We should serve in the newness of the spirit. Set your affection on things above, dearly beloved. All that remains is his return for us, and then:

“When Christ, Who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with Him in glory.” Colossians 3:4

It could be today, dearly beloved!
