Fools or Wise?

Dearly beloved, we must guard our thinking and make it a fortress for God instead of allowing it to become a septic tank for the adversary. As a man thinks in his heart so is he. “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.”

The word “fools” comes up many times in Proverbs. It is translated from three different words in Proverbs. One is from the Hebrew word “‘evil”: lax or careless habit of mind and body. Another is “kegil”: fat, and then dense, or stupid which comes of it, showing in impiety. The third word is “nabal”: a vulgar churl. To reject God’s wisdom when it is available is the making of a fool and it leads to a person's ruin.

Repeatedly God exhorts us to listen to Him for our own profit. He wants us to be wise and understand spiritual matters. He would have all men to be saved and come to a knowledge of the truth.

“Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.”

Instruction brings us to knowledge. The application of God’s knowledge is wisdom. People become fools when they will not hear Him. Believing comes by hearing God’s Word.

Dearly beloved, “God has not given us a spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.”

The word "spirit" in this verse refers to the life of man, its issues and characteristics. "Fear" is the word for cowardice. "Sound mind" is sober thinking. God did not give us a life of cowardice; but of power, and of love, and of sober thinking.

Renewing our thinking processes to who we are in Christ will transform us from carnally minded people taught by the wisdom of this world, to spiritually minded people that were taught by the wisdom from above.

As we believe God's wisdom concerning who we are in Christ we can do the good, well pleasing, and mature will of God. We will change from the inside out; from the spirit of God out to our life style of believing God. Bringing our thinking in agreement with God’s thinking is our key to power.

How do people get to the place of living a lifestyle as cowards, not having the character needed to stand on God’s Word?

“But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty [craftiness], so your minds [your thinking processes] should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.”

When food goes bad it corrupts, it spoils; it stinks. What does a dead animal on the side of the road smell like when it corrupts? It stinks! We don’t want our thinking processes to spoil like bad food or like a dead body. When something corrupts it is brought into a worse state. We don't want our thinking processes to corrupt, do we?

We are not to be deceived through the adversary’s craftiness so that our our thinking processes corrupt from who we are in Christ. We are the righteousness of God, justified, sanctified, redeemed, saved, and soon to be glorified in Christ. We don't want to be like a dog that goes back to his vomit.

Want to be healed? Want to overcome the depression, the anxiety, the worry, the uncertainty, the fears, the hopelessness that you face? Gird up the loins of your mind and believe who you are in Christ.

Mental pain is excruciating; don’t let it be your master, dear saints. Put on the armor of light and resist the devil, he is a coward – he will flee, but not until you stand on God’s Word.

You must put on the breastplate of righteousness. In Christ, you stand before God without any sense of sin, guilt, or condemnation. Christ made It is a reality: believe it!

God set you apart from the common lot of people. In Christ, you are a holy one, a saint filled with His spirit. Walk in the complete reality of that birth from above.

Jesus Christ died for us and paid for our sins. We have been redeemed! The adversary doesn't own you any longer. Walk as a dearly beloved one in Christ; you are you know.

Frame your thinking with God’s Word if you want to have a sound mind.

This week I have dealt with a suicide, someone having panic attacks, someone afraid of dying, and other mental assaults.

Do not give the devil the power over your life by listening to his lying, accusing words. If you give in to his way of thinking he will destroy you. Be wise and learn from how the Lord Jesus thought about the situations he faced.

“Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind.” “Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus.” Think in the same manner as he thought; in light of God’s Word. Live by his motto: "It is written!"

You are, and you can do what He empowers you to do: believe it. Take up the shield of the right way of believing: you will be able to quench -extinguish- all the flaming arrows of the wicked one. It does no good to own a shield and not use it when you are attacked.

Take the sword of the spirit, which is the Word of God. Wield it with confidence and competence. Stand and say, “It is written…” and your adversary will flee. Pray with every prayer in the spirit and watch thereunto.

The weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but powerful by God to the demolition of strong holds. Bring your thinking into subjection to the Word and Will of God, dearly beloved.

“Hold fast the form of sound words, which thou hast heard of me, in faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.”

We do not have to be fools; we can be wise, have sound minds, and live victorious lives in the peace of God. I love you, dear ones. You are more than a conqueror in Christ.
