Prove Me Now Herewith
Dearly beloved of God, in Malachi 3:6-12, God told Israel that He does not change. He told them to prove Him. He gave them His Word, and told them to apply it, to act on it, and He would fulfill His promise to them and bring it to pass.
This sounds a lot like believing, doesn’t it?
Romans 10:17
So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
God reveals what is available from Him by His Word. To believe is to have trust and confidence in information received, therefore we act upon it.
Isaiah 55:10, 11
10 For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater:
11 So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.
When God speaks that settles it. When He makes a promise, the outcome is a foregone conclusion. He gives us example after example of this truth in His Word.
When God gave Israel (who were captives in Egypt) the revelation of the first Passover, and they acted on it, and the next morning over 2 and a half million people left their captivity, and “there was not one feeble person among their tribes.”
God gave them His Word. They acted on it. God brought it to pass. Deliverance! The outcome was a foregone conclusion because God is not a man that He should lie. He is faithful that promised. His Word declares His Will, and He is able and willing to perform it for whoever believes Him.
When they later crossed the Red Sea on dry ground, God gave them His Word, they acted on it, and the results were a foregone conclusion. Moses lifted His staff at God’s direction, the sea parted, and they crossed on dry ground.
It was the same in the wilderness when serpents were biting the people. Moses prayed to God. God told Moses to make a brass serpent, and put it on his staff, and when the people looked on it they would be healed.
God gave His Word, Moses and the people acted on it, and God fulfilled it. God brought it to pass as He said He would. The outcome was a foregone conclusion.
The same thing was true when Joshua led Israel. They crossed the Jordan when it was at flood stage.
Joshua 3:15, 16
15 And as they that bare the ark were come unto Jordan, and the feet of the priests that bare the ark were dipped in the brim of water, (for Jordan overfloweth all his banks all the time of harvest,)
16 That the waters which came down from above and rose up upon an heap very far from the city Adam, that is beside Zaretan: and those that came down toward the sea of the plain, even the salt sea, failed, and were cut off: and the People passed over right against Jericho.
The waters parted for over 38 miles, and the people immediately crossed on dry ground. God gave Joshua His Word. He spoke it. The people acted on God’s Word, and God brought it to pass. The outcome was a foregone conclusion!
God gave us His Word in writing. It is God’s Word, and when we believe what He says, He will perform it. God is able and willing to perform every word that comes out of His mouth.
The outcome is a foregone conclusion when we take God at His Word and act on it. He is the Living God, and His Word is alive, and accomplishes His purposes.
It does not matter if God speaks of salvation, the operation of the manifestations of holy spirit, prayer, healing, or giving and receiving; God gives us His Word, we believe it, and therefore we act on it, and He brings His Word to pass by His ability and willingness to perform it, and we receive His deliverance.
Romans 12: 2, 3
2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
We renew our minds to the Word of God so that we may prove the will of God in our lives.
3 For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.
“The measure of faith” is used here by the figure of speech, metonymy, to refer to that which God has given to be believed.
God gave us His Word. That is the measure we are to believe. God performs His Word, and we see the results that He promises when we believe it, and act on it. It is a foregone conclusion.
“Prove Me now herewith, saith the LORD of Hosts.” Go ahead, take Him at His Word, and see what happens. It shall be as He has spoken!
