Quite an Association
Dearly beloved of God, by Jesus Christ’s accomplishments we are the children of God. He gave his life for us so that we could be saved. All that we have as Christians is by the grace of God toward us in Christ Jesus.
Colossians 2:9 and 10
For in him [Christ Jesus the Lord] dwells all the fullness of the Godhead [the divine nature] bodily.
And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power:
We are complete in him [Christ Jesus] who is the head over every ruler and authority. “Complete” is a form of the Greek word, “pleroo,” which means “to fill.” It means that we are completely filled in Christ Jesus our Lord.
God put all things together in Christ. It pleased God for all fullness to dwell in him. Christ Jesus the Lord is the head of the body, the Church, and in him all the members of his body received all that he accomplished. It is all, in all the members of his body. Not a single member of his body is lacking anything. All the members are completely filled in Christ Jesus the Lord.
We are so completely filled in Christ Jesus that the Word of God says that we are “as he is.”
The Word of God speaks of us as being “in Christ,” indicating that we are united with him in his accomplishments. In the new birth every child of God is united with Christ in his accomplishments.
God made Christ the head over all things in the Church, which is his body, the fullness of him, that fills all in all. Every member is filled with all.
Ephesians 1:3 WT
Blessed is the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, Who has blessed us in Christ, with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realm.
Not one member of the body of Christ was missed. Every member received every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realm “in Christ.” It is all, in all the members.
Ephesians speaks of accomplished realities “in Christ” in Ephesians 1:3, 4, 6, 7, 11, 13; 2:6, 10, 13, 15, 21, 22; 3:6. It is all “in Christ;” all in our association with him as members of his body. We are united with him in his accomplishments. We are as he is.
Every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realm, today and in the ages to come, is ours in Christ.
We are the children of God now, today. We are now justified, and when Christ returns we will be glorified together with him. We will acquire the glory of the Lord Jesus Christ.
We received the spirit of sonship, and since we His children, we are His heirs, and joint heirs with Christ. It is quite an association, is it not?
Oh, rejoice! The sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory that shall be revealed to us. Thank God for the work of God in Christ Jesus, and for His wonderful grace to us in Christ Jesus.
