Jesus Christ our Passover Was Sacrificed for Us
Dearly beloved of God, at his last supper with his disciples, Jesus Christ took bread and gave thanks and brake it, and gave to them saying, “This is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of Me.” The bread symbolized his body and what he accomplished by his suffering and death.
Likewise also he took the cup, and said, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood, which is shed for you.” The cup symbolized the shedding of his blood in order to ratify the new covenant.
The four gospel records show how Jesus Christ fulfilled God’s Will so that the new covenant could be ratified by his blood.
The epistles explain what he achieved by his accomplishments: his sufferings, his death, his resurrection out from among the dead, his ascension into the heavenly realm, and his seating at God’s right hand.
God made the new covenant between the whole house of Israel and Himself.
The old covenant that God made with Israel after delivering them from Egypt pertained to the flesh; the new covenant pertained to the spirit. Jesus Christ sent the promise of the Father on the Feast of Pentecost.
Jesus Christ was the mediator of a better covenant, established upon better promises than that of the old covenant. Had the former covenant been sufficient there would not have been any need for a new one, but the old covenant of the law could not give spirit life to people; the new one did. Read Hebrews 6-10.
II Corinthians 3 compares the old covenant of the law which pertained to the flesh, with the new covenant of the spirit.
Jeremiah 32:31-34 foretold of the new covenant of the spirit that God would make with Israel. The book of Hebrews describes it to the people of Israel and shows how Jesus Christ’s sacrifice established the new covenant.
Jesus Christ came to do the will of God. He took away the first covenant so that he could establish the second covenant.
God revealed to the Apostle Paul revelation that He had previously kept secret. Jesus Christ established a called out group of people from both the Judeans and from the Gentiles that confessed Jesus as Lord and believed that He raised him from the dead. He made them one body, the body of Christ, which is the Church.
What before had previously been a mystery hidden in God was now revealed. In in Christ the Gentiles are joint heirs with the house of Israel, they are members of a joint body with them, and in Christ they are joint partakers of God’s promise to them by the gospel.
Ephesians 2 and 3 explains this mystery that was hidden in God.
After they believed in the Lord Jesus Christ, and that God raised him from the dead, this new body of people was sealed with the holy spirit of promise. It was a down payment for their future inheritance of eternal life.
God completely gave them the remission of their sins and iniquities, and He remembers them no more. This body of people no longer is under the reign of sin and death, they reign in life by Jesus Christ.
Dearly beloved, the Gentiles are now no longer strangers and foreigners from the covenant God made with Israel, they are joint citizens with the saints, and of the household of God. God is building them together unto a holy Temple in the Lord, in whom both are being built together for a habitation of God through the spirit!
The new covenant is not written with ink, it is written in fleshly tables of the heart by the gift of holy spirit. The letter of the law made all men guilty before God. The law kills, but the new covenant of the spirit gives life!
Romans 8:1 and 2
1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.
The Church, which is the body of Christ, is no longer under the law of sin and death. The law of the spirit of life in Christ Jesus made us free from it.
The Lord Jesus Christ has become a life-giving spirit, and where the spirit of the Lord is there is liberty! It is now Christ in you, the hope of glory!
The new covenant of the spirit much, much more glorious than the old covenant of the law that pertained to the flesh.
Dearly beloved, we all, with unveiled faces beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are transformed into the same image, from the glory of the complete new birth reality to the future glory of the inheritance that we hope for, even as by the spirit from the Lord!
Why is Christianity so spiritually illiterate, and ignorant of these spiritual realities? They ignore the revelation knowledge of the Word of God that God gave to reveal His Will.
Open the book and read what is addressed to the Church from Romans to II Thessalonians. It explains the gospel of God concerning Jesus Christ our Lord. These epistles explain what the Lord Jesus Christ accomplished, and who God made us in Christ.
In them we learn that Jesus Christ delivered us from the reign of sin and death.
He justified us, and delivered us from the condemnation of sin, and from the guilt of sin. When Christ returns and transforms our bodies so that they are like his glorious body, he will deliver us from the presence of sin.
In Christ we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins according to the riches of His grace, which He abounded to us.
In Christ we have sonship by the incorruptible seed of holy spirit. We are sanctified by the spirit. The gift of holy spirit gives us access to the Father.
Christ reconciled us to God in one body. Now we are the children of God, His heirs, and joint heirs with Christ.
God blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realm; it is all in all born again ones. The Father freely gives us all things with His beloved Son.
In Christ we are accepted by God our Father; we are highly favored in His sight, and dearly beloved.
God called us to obtain the glory of the Lord Jesus Christ. When he returns he will receive the inheritance. He will transform our bodies so that they are like his glorious body that dies no more. We will physically enter the Kingdom of God, and we will live forever in His presence in the new heaven and new earth in the ages to come.
It will take God our Father the coming ages to show us the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness to us in Christ Jesus!
Jesus Christ our Passover was sacrificed for us. Remember what he accomplished for us, and who we are in him, dearly beloved of God.
