Our Overcoming Victory
Dearly beloved of God, Jesus is the only human being that arose from the dead, and who dies no more. His resurrection out from among the dead was the most historic event in human history, and it is the foundation of Christianity.
All of us are mortal, meaning we are subject to death. It is appointed unto man once to die, but unlike the common lot of people we have the hope of living again when the Lord Jesus Christ returns to gather us up to meet him in the air.
Jesus Christ’s resurrection from the dead is the blueprint for our resurrection. God our Father determined beforehand for us to be conformed to the image of His son, so that he might be the firstborn from the dead among many brethren.
Let that sink in, dearly beloved. God raised Jesus according to His promise to him, and He will raise us according to His promise to us, also. Christ was the first born from the dead, and we will be conformed to his image as his brothers and sisters.
We will be raised in incorruption, in glory, in power; we will be raised having a spiritual body like Christ’s glorious body; we will acquire the glory of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Yes beloved, we will be conformed to the image of God’s Son, and we will acquire the glory of the Lord Jesus Christ. We have become identified with Christ in the likeness of his death and resurrection.
Our overcoming victory over sin and death is founded on his victory that overcame sin and death.
When God raised His Son out from among the dead He seated him at His right side in the heavenly realm far above all principality and power and might and dominion and every name that is named, not only in this age, but also in the age to come; and He put all things under his feet, and gave him to the head over all things to the Church, which is his body, the fulness of him that fills all in all.
“At the present time, however, we do not yet see “all things” subjected to him. Notwithstanding, we do see Jesus crowned with glory and honor, who was briefly made lower than the [spirit] messengers for the suffering of death so that he, by the grace of God, might taste death for everyone.”
“Jesus, who sanctifies and they who are sanctified are all from one. For this reason, he is not ashamed to call them brothers.”
“Therefore, since the children share of flesh and blood, he likewise partook of the same so that through death he might render inactive him who holds the strength of death, that is the devil, and might release those who throughout all their lifetime were held in bondage by fear of death.” See the Working Translation concerning Hebrews 2.
The time is approaching when we will see all things under the Lord Jesus Christ’s feet, and we will not only have the promise but we have the reality of its fulfillment. Oh rejoice!
Since he conquered death, so will we, dearly beloved. Our overcoming victory is in his victory that overcame sin and death in his resurrection.
Death is a reality of life; but our hope is Christ is a far greater reality. We have everlasting life through Christ Jesus the Lord and what he accomplished when God raised him from the dead.
His victory over death gave us our victory over death. Thanks be to God, Who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Comfort yourselves with these words; they are true and faithful.
