Our Victory is in His Victory
Dearly beloved of God, God sent His Son, Jesus Christ into the world to declare Him; to make Him known. Jesus declared God by teaching His Word, and doing His Father’s Will. He said that “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God.”
God instructed the apostle He sent to reveal the great mystery concerning Christ to write, “All scripture is God-breathed….”
From God’s point of view there is no question about the integrity of His Word. He is the Author of His Word, and He stands behind every word. He is both able and willing to perform every Word He has spoken, and He is faithful and reliable.
How long will God’s Word be in force? The Lord Jesus Christ said, “Heaven and earth shall pass away, but My words shall not pass away.” The words he spoke for God will never pass away. That’s rather emphatic, is it not?
The scoffers say, “’Where is the promise of His coming? For since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.’ For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the Word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water, perished: but the heavens and the earth which are now, by the same word of God are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment, and perdition of ungodly men.” II Peter 3:4-6
“Nevertheless we, according to His promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.” II Peter 3:13
The Word was in force from the beginning, it is in force today, and it will be in force forever.
Dearly beloved, should we listen to those to whom God Himself gave His Word, or should we listen to those who reject His Word and yet purport to speak for Him?
“Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for He is faithful that promised.)” Hebrews 10:23
According to the critical Greek texts, “our faith” is “the hope.” Why can we hold fast the confession of the hope? Because God is faithful that promised!
“Now believing is the assurance concerning things that are in hope as if they had in fact happened, and the evidence of those things that are not seen.” Hebrews 11:1
The foundation for biblical faith is always the Word of God.
How do we know what our hope is? We know because God revealed it to holy men of God, and He had them write it down. We have the Word of the Lord concerning His Will in writing. Read I Thessalonians 4:15-18.
“If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable. BUT now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that have fallen asleep.” I Corinthians 15:19, 20
We are not to be pitied for believing a lie; we have the victory over sin and death through our Lord Jesus Christ.
Dearly beloved, our victory is in Christ’s victory over death.
The Lord conquered death when God raised him from the dead, and he will die no more.
When he returns, we will have our victory. The dead in Christ will rise first, and then we which are alive shall be caught up together with them to meet the Lord in the air!
God has determined the outcome ahead of time, and the Lord Jesus Christ will accomplish the purpose of the ages that God purposed in Christ.
Our victory is in Christ's victory over death. We have the victory over sin and death through the Lord Jesus Christ. Nothing can stop God from performing all of His Will.
Johnny-come-latelys will come and go, but the Word of God will endure forever.
“Since anyone who has been born of God overcomes the world. Moreover, this is the overcoming victory that has overcome the world: our believing. Who is he who overcomes the world but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?” I John 5: 4,5 The Working Translation
Dearly beloved, our victory is in Christ’s victory over death; rejoice forevermore! We have the Word of the Lord on it.
