Stand Fast in the Liberty

Dearly beloved of God, the Word of God exhorts us to, “Stand fast in the liberty wherewith Christ has made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.”

After all that Jesus Christ accomplished, you would think that God’s people would have stood fast in that liberty, and not be entangled with the bondage of the law, but within a decade of this writing, all Asia turned away from the revelation that God charged the Apostle Paul to deliver to the Church.

"The Lord is the spirit, and where the spirit from the Lord is, there is liberty."

God sent His Son to do what none of us could do for ourselves. We were dead in sin; we did not have spirit life. We came short of the glory of God, but God showed us grace; we were justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.

Being justified by believing, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. By him we have access into this grace wherein we stand by believing, and we rejoice in hope of receiving the glory of God. This hope does not disgrace by disappointed expectations because God’s love was poured out to us by the holy spirit which was given to us.

Dear ones, Jesus Christ fulfilled the law and was the end of it for righteousness to everyone that believes concerning him.

The law could not give spirit life. If there had been a law given which could have given life, indeed righteousness should have been by the law, but it couldn’t.

God sent His Son to make a new covenant, that of the spirit.

Jesus Christ said, “I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high.” Jesus Christ sent the gift of holy spirit, which gave God’s people spirit life.

Anyone that confesses Jesus as Lord and believes that God raised him from the dead will be saved. They are born again of God’s spirit and they are sealed with the promised holy spirit; it is the earnest, the down payment of our inheritance until God sends Christ Jesus on the day of redemption to redeem those that he purchased with his life.

Dearly beloved of God, the law made all men guilty before God, it could not give spirit life, but Christ did give spirit life to all that believe on him. The new birth spirit, the spirit of sonship gives life.

Now the Lord is that spirit. God made him a life-giving spirit. It is Christ in you, the hope of glory.

Romans 8:9-11 WT, Rev. Walter Cummins
9 “You are not in the flesh but in the spirit, since the spirit from God dwells in you. If anyone does not have the spirit, that is to say Christ, he does not belong to him,
10 but since Christ dwells in you, then the body [the old nature] is dead because of sin, but the spirit is life because of justness.
11 If the spirit from Him Who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, then He Who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of His spirit dwelling in you.”

If a person does have the spirit of sonship, that person has the spirit of life in Christ Jesus. The spirit itself bears witness to our inner being that we are the children of God, heirs of God, and joint heirs with Christ.

Dearly beloved, the sufferings of the present time are not comparable with the glory that is to be revealed to us who have His spirit!

Rejoice and live with thanksgiving to God for His goodness to us in Christ Jesus our Lord.

"Now the Lord is the spirit, and where the spirit from the Lord is, there is liberty"; stand fast in the liberty wherewith Christ has made us free! He is coming....
