Lord, Open My Eyes
Dearly beloved, right believing is constantly knowing that God’s power and presence is with you in every situation. He will never leave us or forsake us. We are His dearly beloved children.
There was a time when the king of Syria warred against Israel. Elisha was a faithful prophet in Israel at that time.
Elisha knew that God was with him and His power was available to him whenever he needed it.
Time after time he told the king of Israel where the Syrians were going to attack them. The king of Syria thought that one of his top men was leaking top secret information to the king of Israel because every sneak attack he planned was exposed before it took place.
The king of Syria said, “Will you not show me which of us is for the king of Israel?”
One of his servants told him, “None, my lord O king: but Elisha, the prophet that is in Israel, tells the king of Israel the words that you speak in your bedchamber.” Now that’s rather good intelligence!
The king sent men to spy where Elisha was so he could capture him. They found him in Dothan, so the Syrian king, “…sent he thither horses, and chariots, and a great host: and they came by night and compassed the city about.” All of that to get this one little man who knew that he walked in the presence of the Living God.
The next morning Elisha’s servant got up early and “went forth,” meaning that he was going to the bathroom. While he was having his morning constitutional he looked up and saw they were surrounded by chariots and horses and a great host of soldiers. Put yourself in his sandals.
He ran to Elisha and said, “Alas, my master! How shall we do?” That’s the response most people would have, isn’t it?
Elisha answered, “Fear not: for they that be with us are more than they that be with them.”
Then Elijah prayed, “LORD, I pray thee, open his eyes that, that he may see. And the LORD opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha.” The record is in II Kings 6.
Elisha prayed for the LORD God to open the young man’s eyes so he could see the greater reality in the situation. A greater host than the Syrian host surrounded Elisha. They were surrounded with the presence of the LORD God and all His resources.
Dearly beloved, God has not changed. He is the same for us as He was for Elisha and Gehazi.
Speak to me Lord; open my eyes so I can see. “You are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.” You are more than a conqueror in Christ who strengthens you. This is our reality today.
I pray, that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him; that He will open the eyes of your understanding so that they are enlightened, the same as He opened the young man’s eyes who served Elisha.
We are not alone. The LORD God Almighty is our Heavenly Father and He has not left us alone; He will never desert us.
Practice the presence of God in your life today.
Speak to me Father! My child, nothing in life or even in the grave; no spiritual power – whether angel, spiritual principality or power; nothing in the dimension of time – whether present or future; nothing in the dimension of space – whether on earth or in the heavenlies; no created thing can separate you from Me and My love that is in Christ Jesus your Lord. You are more than a conqueror in him who loves you.
Oh, Lord open our eyes so that I can see!
He that is in us is greater than anything visible or invisible, known or unknown. We are more than conquerors through Him that loved us, regardless of the adversary’s attacks against us.
Be strong in the Lord, and in the exerted strength of his power for us.
Know that you are walking in the presence of God today, dearly beloved of God. Walk in the wisdom of God and the power of God that is ours in Christ.
Lord, open our eyes that we may see.
