Searchers (Edited)
Dearly beloved of God, people are searching for answers, and they are looking in many different places because no one has taught them the Word of God.
We must never forget that God would have all men to be saved, and to come a knowledge of the truth [I Timothy 2:4.] His Word is the Word of Truth [I Thessalonians 2:13.] God’s Word makes known His Will, and if people want answers He is willing to give them to those who are searching for the truth.
When people do not know the Word of God they wander aimlessly through life grasping for answers.
Let’s compare two very different sources from which we can obtain spiritual information. The first source we will consider is the One True and Living God. He says:
II Peter 1:2, 3, and 4
Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through [Through what?] the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord.
According as His divine power has given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness [How?] through the knowledge of Him that has called us unto His glory and virtue;
Whereby are given unto us great and precious promises, that by these you might be partakers of the divine nature….
The One True and Living God He gives unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness through the knowledge of Him. He has given us great and precious promises.
People sometimes look for answers in the wrong places because they do not not know where else to look, but not all sources can be trusted.
We can listen to what God told Israel and learn from it.
Deuteronomy 18:9-12
When you are come into the land which the LORD your God gives you, you shall not learn to do after the abominations of those nations.
There shall not be found among you anyone that makes his son or daughter to pass through the fire [walking on hot coals], or that uses divination [divination is obtaining spiritual knowledge by any number of different spiritual means], or an observer of times [horoscopes], or an enchanter, or a witch, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer.
For all that do these things are an abomination unto the LORD: and because of these abominations the LORD your God drives them out from before thee.
None of these practices come from the One True and Living God; they are abominations unto Him. These practices come from Satan; he is a liar and a deceiver. He cannot be trusted. These practices lead to people’s harm, not their blessing. Some are not good, and some bad; they are all evil.
For example, a consulter of familiar spirits, and a necromancer purport to get information from dead people, which they say are in heaven. They say they can contact them in a séance. To get information from people who have died is spiritualism.
According to the Word of God the dead are dead; they are not alive anywhere. Jesus Christ is the only man to be raised from the dead, and who is in heaven [John 3:13].
God has given only the Lord Jesus Christ the power to bring the dead to life again, and the Scriptures say definitively that this will not happen until he returns.
Until Christ returns, the dead are corrupting in the grave. Those who have died are in the state of death, not life. Death is a loss of life. Death is not life in any form.
God has given every believer in Christ the hope of everlasting life when he returns and raises the dead in Christ to life. See I Corinthians 15 50-57; I Thessalonians 4:13-18; Philippians 3:20 and 21; I John 3:1-3.
Some people pray to dead saints, and seek direction from the dead. What do the dead know?
Ecclesiastes 9:5 and 10 NASB
For the living know they shall die: but the dead do not know anything, nor have they any longer a reward, for their memory is forgotten.
Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might; for there is no activity or planning or knowledge or wisdom in Sheol [the grave] where you are going.
Psalm 146:4
His breath goes forth, he returns to the earth. In that very day his thoughts perish.
The dead do not know anything; they have no knowledge or wisdom in the grave; their thoughts perish, so how could they give guidance? They cannot!
Where does the medium get the information they purport to have in a séance? It comes from familiar spirits. Mediums are necromancers who are possessed by a familiar spirit.
If people knew and believed God’s Word they would not be taken in by necromancers that purport to contact a loved one who has died. These familiar spirits are deceiving spirits; they are not the person that once lived, nor "their spirit.”
Why would the living seek knowledge from the dead when the dead do not know anything at all?
What about witches? Some people claim that there are good witches. There is no such thing as a good witch, and a bad witch; they all operate devil spirits. This is contrary to the truth that the One True God gives us in His Word. They are all evil.
The same is true of horoscopes, crystals, dream catchers, new age worship, mysticism, ESP, astrology, soothsayers, diviners, etc.; they are all abominations, and they will lead to people’s ruin by the "help" they purport to provide.
These practices all come from Satan, and they lead people into bondage, and away from the One True God, and from the person’s profit and blessing. You cannot trust these sources.
If you want to see the power of God in your life get born again of God’s spirit, and learn how to operate the manifestations of the spirit. The gift of holy spirit we receive at the time we are born again comes with the ability to operate the nine manifestations of the spirit for godly profit.
People don’t need more religion; they need the truth that God reveals in His Word. We do not wrestle with flesh and blood, but with with wicked spirits from on high.
Seek God at His Word; He is the living God, and His Word is truth. He is willing to freely give us all things with Christ. He that is in us is greater than he that is in the world.
God is willing to provide us with spiritual information; information that brings salvation, miraculous deliverance by His mighty hand, direction, peace, prosperity, happiness, blessing, good health, healing, and answers; all things that pertain to life and godliness.
The goodness of God leads us to a change of heart. God only works for good with those who love Him. He never uses people. He is our delivering God; He is God our Father. He does not withhold anything that is good from us.
Dearly beloved, when you run into people searching for answers, give them the truth of the Word of God; it will make them free, and it will provide them with the answers they need to live a life that is more than abundant in every category.
Speak God's Word; He will perform what He has spoken. He will back it up with signs, miracles, and wonders following. Tell the searchers that our God is a delivering God!
