The Purpose of His Calling

Dearly beloved, why did God call us? The word call means “to call, to invite, to summons.” We know that God, "would have all men to be saved and come unto a knowledge of the truth." He extends His invitation to all men, but not all choose to accept it.

He reveals, “that all things work together for good to them that love God, who are called according to His purpose, for whom He did foreknow, He also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of His Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.” He called us according to His purpose. What was that purpose?

Jesus Christ was the firstborn among many brethren; we were called to be born-again, born as his brethren.

After his resurrection and ascension, Christ was made a life-giving spirit, Christ in you the hope of glory. We were conformed to that image when we were born again, and we will conformed to him in glory; we will have glorious bodies like his.

God called us according to His purpose. He planned and determined that anyone who believed on His Son would be born-again; He knew it from the day He planned it. Accordingly, He called us in Christ, justified us in him, and glorified us in him! He determined beforehand that He would freely give us all things with Christ.

God does not lay any charges against us! Christ does not condemn us; he died for us and ever lives to make intercession for us! Nothing can separate us from the love of Christ; nothing!

God called those who were not beloved, to be His beloved. He called those who were not His people, to be the children of the Living God!

He called us to be His saints, heavens holiest of all. He called us into His grace (His divine favor), He called us to liberty; He called us into the fellowship, the full sharing, of His Son Jesus Christ our Lord. Beloved, God freely gives us all things with His Son!

Thessalonians reveals that, "He called you to obtain the glory of the Lord Jesus Christ." He tells us “to walk worthy of God who called us unto His kingdom and glory.” He says, “Faithful is He that called you, who also will do it.” God who called us, assures us that He will fulfill the hope of glory we have in Christ. He is faithful and He will do it!

Why did God call us? Everything He did in Christ paved the way for us to be glorified together with Christ; to share fully with him in glory. When God sends His Son back for us, we will be glorified together with him, beloved. Our Father called us to acquire the glory of the Lord Jesus Christ!

The gathering together, when we will be caught up in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, is only the opening event of this unending period of glory. It will take our Father the ages to come to demonstrate the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness to us in Christ Jesus. That is why He called us, dearly beloved; this was His purpose!

You would have to love someone with exceeding great love to call them to such a glorious calling. We are His dearly beloved, the children of the Living God. Beloved, rejoice, and, "Walk worthily of God who called you to His kingdom and glory."
