God’s Timetable for the Ages
Dearly beloved of God, the Lord Jesus Christ fulfilled the law in order to accomplish salvation and make it available, and he will yet fulfill every word God spoke concerning him; he will accomplish all of His Father’s will. God revealed the end from the beginning; He determined the timetable for the ages.
God raised His beloved Son from the dead and he ascended into heaven; he led captivity captive and gave gifts unto men! He triumphed over the power of darkness and delivered us from his reign over us! He stripped the principalities and powers that once ruled over us and exposed them openly and he triumphed over them!
The book of Ephesians addressed to the Church reveals that the Christ will head up all things in heaven and earth in the administration of the fullness of times; this time is yet future.
What has occurred is that God raised Christ from the dead; he is the first fruit offering of those who have fallen asleep.
According to the law, on the morning after the weekly Sabbath of the Feast of Unleavened Bread, the high priest would wave the first fruit offering of the barley harvest before the LORD. After the Lord Jesus arose from the dead he presented himself to God in the Temple as this first fruit offering from the dead; he was the true Wave Offering.
Since death came by man [Adam], by man [the second Adam, the Lord Jesus Christ] is the resurrection of the dead, also. As in Adam all die, so also in Christ all will be made alive, but each one however in his own order: Christ was the first fruit offering from the dead, and then at his coming, those that are Christ’s.
You see, dearly beloved, God has given His Son vast power. His Father gave him the power to send “the promise of Father”, which is to baptize with the gift of holy spirit; this is power from on high. He has the power to seal those who believe on him unto eternal life by the spirit of sonship, the new birth spirit.
God also committed the authority to execute all judgment into His Son’s hand. John 5 reveals that the Father judges no man, but He committed all judgment unto His Son. He that believes on the Son, believes on His Father who sent him. Those who believe on him have everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation, but have passed from death unto life.
Not only does the Lord Jesus Christ have these powers, the hour is coming in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice and will come forth to resurrection life or unto the resurrection of damnation. The Lord Jesus Christ has vast power indeed!
Thus far we have been born again of God’s spirit and have the promise of eternal life. Soon Christ will return for the members of his body to save and redeem us from death, or this evil world, and we will receive the reality itself. Rejoice!
After that, the Lord Jesus Christ will put down all rule and all authority and power; he will reign until he has put all enemies under his feet, the last enemy that shall be destroyed is death.
The Lord Jesus Christ will carry out every Word of God until all of it is fulfilled, then he will turn the kingdom over to His Father and be subject unto Him. God will then make all things new again in the new heaven and new earth.
Dearly beloved, God put all things in subjection under Christ’s feet; He did not leave anything that is not put under him. The fulfilling of his subjection of all things has begun, but there is much more to come.
Thus far Jesus has given his life to fulfill the will of God and God raised him from the dead to verify and authenticate that he was His Son. He ascended into heaven and sat down at God’s right side, and His Father made him both Lord and Christ. He has sent the promise of His Father and he endued us with power from on high. We only await to be glorified with him at his coming.
God’s timetable for our redemption has begun! Christ has not subdued all enemies as yet, but it is imminent. Christ Jesus our Lord is coming back with power and great glory for his dearly beloved ones.
God has chosen us in Christ to salvation through sanctification of the spirit and belief of the truth, whereunto He called us to the obtaining of the glory of the Lord Jesus Christ.
The Lord Jesus Christ will fulfill every last jot and tittle of God’s Word and Will. He could return for us at any moment...tick tock. Rejoice forevermore!
