Dearly Beloved

It Shall Be as God Has Spoken

Dearly beloved of God, how important is the Word of God?

When confronted by the devil, Jesus Christ said, “It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God.”

If the Word of God was that important in Jesus Christ’s eyes, then how important should it be in ours?

God’s Word was certainly important enough for God to say it in the first place.
(It is recorded in Deuteronomy 8:3, when God was speaking to Israel.)

As we need bread to sustain our soul life so need the Word of God to sustain our spiritual life. To be healthy we need to eat daily. The Word of God is spiritual life to us.

When approached by the Sadducees, which believed that there is no resurrection, Jesus said, “You do err, not knowing the Scriptures, nor the power of God.

These religious leaders had no desire to know the Scriptures, nor did they believe that God had the power to perform His Word. Jesus said:
“For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God in heaven.”

The Lord Jesus then took them back to Exodus 3:6, and he asked them:
“But as touching the resurrection, have you not read that which was spoken unto you by God, saying “I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob? God is not the God of the dead, but of the Living.’”

Do you see that? “Have you not read that which was spoken unto you by God….” This is the starting point of learning about the things of God!

God is not the God of the dead, He is the God of the living, and they will live again in the resurrection when God authorizes His Son to raise the dead out of their graves.

John 5:19 ESV
So Jesus said to them, "Truly, truly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of his own accord, but only what he sees the Father doing. For whatever the Father does, that the Son does likewise.

Jesus Christ could not do anything on his own. God is the power behind His Word. God authorized His Son to do the things that he did. God is the One Who brings His Word to pass as He has spoken.

God’s Word is immutable, and when He speaks, we have the guarantee that the outcome is certain. It shall be as He has spoken.

It does not matter if God delegates the authority of His Word to His beloved Son, or to an angel, or to a prophet, or even to you, or me; God is the power behind every word that comes out of His mouth.

For example, if God directs you to minister healing to someone in need, you can be confident that He will perform the revelation that He gives you about the situation. Have confidence in Him.

Without the information we could not help, but if and when God does give revelation, we can be certain that it shall be as He has spoken.

God delegated vast authority to His Son. All who believe regarding him will have everlasting life.

The Christ is “Lord of both the dead and the living,” according to Romans 14: 9. God said so!

I Thessalonians 4:14 WTJ
Moreover, if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so we believe that God by means of Jesus will bring those who have fallen asleep to be with him.

As Jesus died and rose again, even so the dead in Christ will live again when the Lord Jesus Christ speaks the word that God has authorized him to speak.

The Lord Jesus Christ has God’s authority to do what God has instructed him to do.

The strength of the Lord Jesus Christ's ability to prevail comes from His Father's ability to prevail.

I Thessalonians 4:15-18 WTJ
15 Moreover, we say this to you by the Word of the Lord that we who remain alive until the coming of the lord shall in no way precede those who have fallen asleep,
16 because the lord himself will descend from heaven with a summoning shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first.
17 After that, we who remain alive will be snatched up together with them in the clouds to meet the lord in the air, and so shall we always be with the lord.
18 Wherefore encourage one another with these words.

God has vast power indeed, and He has delegated the authority for His Son to raise the dead in Christ first, then “we who remain will be snatched up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so shall we always be with the lord.”

Oh, what a glorious day that will be!

God is the power behind His Word to raise the dead in Christ and snatch up the living with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air.

The difference between God’s Word and man’s word is that God is capable of performing whatever He may say. God Who promised is faithful.

Think about that as you read His promises to you, whether they are promises of everlasting life, prosperity, health, long life, deliverance from the power of darkness, or whatever other subject about which He may speak.

Have confidence in the certainty of God’s Word.

We could not know God, Who is Spirit, had He had not revealed Who He is by His Word.

God also sent His Son to declare Him, to make Him known by the words he spoke and the works he did.

God enlightens the eyes of our understanding by His Word. He tells us that He is only good and just. He informs us that He is Light, and there is no darkness in Him.

God is the God of love, the God of peace, the God of all grace, the Father of mercies and the God of all comfort; He is the God of salvation, and of the hope in Christ. God is God our Father. He says so, beloved of God.

God has revealed these truths about Himself in His Word; we can read them for ourselves and know of a certainty what God is like.

Beloved of God, man’s basic spiritual problem is not believing the reliability of the Word of God.

Spiritual weakness and inability in God’s people can only be because of their neglect of His Word, or that they wrongly divide it so that it does not convey the truth He intended.

The Word of God is the food we must have so that we may be transformed by the renewing of our minds.

We get His Word in our minds so that we believe what God has created in us in Christ in the new birth. We lead every thought captive to the obedience of Christ.

We must come to the point that we allow the Word of God to have pre-eminence in our thinking and in our practice.

We must study God’s Word to acquire the knowledge of God so that we can get to know Him.

We must adjust our thinking so that it agrees with the Father's thinking, which He has revealed to us in writing.

We cannot separate God from His Word. We cannot get any closer in our fellowship with God than by believing His Word. The Word is as much God as God is God.

This is how important the Word of God is to us, beloved of God. It shall be as He has spoken.
