How Reliable is the Word of God?
Dearly beloved of God, I have a question for you; how sure, reliable, or certain is the Word of God?
God guarantees His Word Himself. It is His Word, and it cannot be broken.
God is both able and willing to perform every jot and tittle of His Word. He is the guarantor of every word that comes out of His mouth.
Far too many have underestimated God’s faithfulness to fulfill His Word.
After the tempter came to Jesus in the wilderness, the Lord Jesus said, “It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God."
Jesus believed that the Word of God was reliable and necessary.
John 7: 16
Jesus answered them, and said, “My doctrine is not Mine, but His that sent Me.
God gave Jesus Christ the words that he spoke. The doctrine Jesus spoke came from God; it did not originate with him.
John 8:28, 29
28 Then Jesus said to them, “When you lift up the Son of Man, then you will know that I am He, and that I do nothing of Myself; but as My Father taught Me, I speak these things.
29 And He who sent Me is with Me. The Father has not left Me alone, for I always do those things that please Him.”
Jesus gave people the words that God gave him. He believed God according to His Word.
How much did Jesus trust that God would fulfill His Word to him?
John 10:17 and 18
Therefore doth the Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I may take it again. No one taketh it away from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment received I from my Father.
Jesus was willing to sacrifice his life because he believed that God would was reliable.
Jesus Christ believed that the scripture cannot be broken. He believed that it was so reliable he was willing to die according to God's Word to him.
Well, did God fulfill the word that He promised Jesus? Did He resurrect Jesus from the dead? He most certainly did.
Every gospel record declares this truth. The chosen witnesses verify that he indeed was risen from the dead. The apostles and the Church epistles declare Jesus’ resurrection from the dead.
Romans 1:3, 4 WTJ
3⌄ concerning His Son, who came from the seed of David according to the flesh
4⌄ and who was marked out as the Son of God with power according to the Spirit, Who is Holiness [Sanctification], by the resurrection of the dead, namely, of Jesus Christ our Lord.
God certifies that He marked out Jesus Christ our Lord as His Son by his resurrection from the dead. The resurrection was God's validation that Jesus was His Son. His Word was reliable.
God’s requirement to be saved is to confess the Lord Jesus and to believe that raised him from the dead according to Romans 10:9, and His Word is reliable.
Jesus Christ believed that the scripture cannot be broken. He believed that it was so reliable he was willing to die according to what his Father told him.
We are instructed that we are to walk by believing [believing what God says], not by sight.
The right way of believing comes by hearing the Word of God.
Hebrews 11:6 WTJ
Now without believing, it is impossible to please God, for he who approaches God must believe that He is [exists] and that He becomes a rewarder to those who seek Him.
The one thing that God requires of us is that we believe Him.
God has given us all things that pertain unto life and godliness through the knowledge of His Word. He has given us exceeding great and precious promises that by these we might be partakers of the divine nature.
Dearly beloved, the Lord Jesus Christ believed the Word of God was reliable.
Do not underestimate God, nor His ability and willingness to fulfill His Word. We can believe the Word of God having confidence that it shall be as God has spoken.
The Word of God is reliable. It cannot be broken. Nothing is more reliable than the Word of God.
