The Wisdom of God Concerning Christ
Dearly beloved of God, the scriptures of the Bible, the Word of God, reveal the Will of God. It is not man’s word about God, it is God’s Word.
II Timothy 3:16 WTJ
6⌄ All Scripture is God-breathed and profitable for teaching [what was taught], for reproof, for correction, for the instruction that is in justness,
17⌄ so that the man of God may be equipped, fully equipped for every good work.
All Scripture, which is the Word of God, comes from the mouth of God. It is God speaking and He is able and willing to perform every word for those who believe Him.
God is the Originator of this information, and it is profitable for doctrine, reproof, correction, for instruction in justness. It reveals God’s standard for justice.
God’s Word fully equips us so that we may undertake every good work.
God is Spirit. You cannot see, hear, smell, taste, or touch spirit. Without God’s Word we would not know anything about the matters of which He speaks.
Think about it; we would know nothing about Christ and his accomplishments, nor of the grace of God to us in Christ, nor about salvation and the hope of salvation, nor how to enter the kingdom of God had He not revealed this information.
We would not know how to receive the things of God, nor of the sonship rights, privileges, and spiritual ability that each child has, nor of our access to God our Father by the spirit, nor how to get our prayers answered.
We would not know about the nine manifestations of holy spirit, nor of resurrection life, nor the mystery of God concerning Christ, nor the key to power, which is the renewing of the mind, and so much more if had God not revealed these things to us in His Word.
The Word of God is our point of contact with God. We are standing in the presence of God when God speaks, and we hear His Word. You cannot get closer to Him than His Word.
God is the Originator of the information in the Scriptures. The Word of God reveals the wisdom of God.
I Corinthians 2: 9, 10
9 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.
10 But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.
God, Who is Spirit, in His capacity as the Originator of information, reveals His wisdom to us, which before was hidden from us. God reveals the deep things of God to us by means of His Spirit.
God places the emphasis in His Word using figures of speech, which deviate from the normal rules of grammar in order to draw our attention to what is being said in a unique way.
The figure used in verse 10, synonymy, uses two different words with similar meanings: God and Spirit, so that there is no uncertainty about who gives this information.
How do we normally receive information? We receive natural knowledge through our senses; through our eyes and ears, and then we mentally process it.
How do we receive information from God? We receive it from God, Who is Spirit. He is the Originator the information revealed in His Word.
The context here in I Corinthians 2, concerns the mystery of God concerning Christ. It was a mystery hidden in God until He chose to reveal it.
This information did not originate with world wisdom. It did not come from the mind of man. It originated with God Who is Spirit, and He revealed it to us in writing.
I Corinthians 2: 11, 12 WTJ
11⌄ As a matter of fact, who among men knows the things of a person except the spirit of the person that is in him? Even so, no one except the Spirit of God knows the things of God.
12⌄ However, we did not receive the spirit of the world but the Spirit that is from God so that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God.
“The spirit of the person” in verse 11, refers to the person’s soul life. The person himself is the only one that knows the things going on in his mind and heart.
Likewise, no one except the Spirit of God knows the deep things of God.
God, Who is Spirit, reveals "the things that have been freely given to us by God." He is the Originator of this information.
Only God could reveal this wisdom to us because only He, and He alone, knows it.
I cannot know what is going on in your mind unless you communicate it to me. Neither can we know the deep things of God unless He communicates them to us.
God originated the information concerning the mystery of God concerning Christ, and He informed us of this revelation in writing "so that we might know the things that have freely been given to us by God."
I Corinthians 2:13-16
13⌄ Those are also the things that we speak, not in the didactic words of human wisdom but in didactic words of the Spirit, comparing spiritual things with spiritual.
14⌄ Now the natural person does not receive the things of the Spirit of God. In fact, they are foolishness to him, and he cannot know them because they are spiritually examined.
15⌄ However, the spiritual person examines all things, but he is examined by no one.
16⌄ So Isaiah 40:13: “who has known the mind of the Lord that he may instruct Him?” We, however, have the mind of Christ.
God, in His capacity as the Originator of information, teaches us about spiritual matters. He communicates spiritual things with spiritual words which He originates.
The natural person of body and soul life does not have the spirit from God received in the new birth. The natural man cannot know the things of God; they are foolishness unto him.
One natural person cannot even know the things going on in another person’s mind, much less the deep things of God.
The things of God are discerned, assessed, examined, or judged by the spirit.
Thank God that He revealed the wisdom of the mystery of God concerning Christ. It is here that we find wisdom that will never fail us.
The world, by natural wisdom, did not know the wisdom of God. Nor did the adversary, nor his minions know it.
Had they known the wisdom of God concerning the mystery "they would not have crucified the Lord of glory."
Beloved of God, we know the mystery concerning Christ, and "the riches of the glory of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory."
We can know "what God has prepared for those who love Him."
We can know "the things that have been freely given to us by God."
Rejoice, and thank God for His great love and grace to us in Christ Jesus. Thank God that He revealed His Word so that we could understand spiritual matters.
