God Will Make a Way
Dearly beloved of God, God will make a way for you where there seems to be no way. God’s people have faced overwhelming situations throughout history, but the LORD God was with them to deliver them.
In Judges 6, we read of a time when Israel had done evil in the sight of the LORD and they went into captivity. The Midianites, which were as grasshoppers for multitude, destroyed their crops, and left them with no sustenance, neither sheep, nor ox, nor ass.
God sent them a prophet to remind them Who He was; He was the LORD their God that delivered them from their captivity in Egypt.
There seemed to be no way for them to be delivered from Egypt, but God made a way for them where there was no way. They should have continued to obey Him, but they didn’t.
God sent an angel of the LORD to Gideon and he said, “The LORD is with thee, thou mighty man of valour.”
Gideon said to him, “Oh my Lord, if the LORD is with us, why then is all this befallen us? And where are all His miracles which our fathers told us of, saying ‘Did not the LORD bring us up from Egypt?”
And the LORD looked upon him, and said, “Go in this thy might, and you will save Israel from the hand of the Midianites: have not I sent thee?”
What was “this thy might?” His might was that the LORD God that delivered them from Egypt was with him. The angel said, “The LORD is with you!”
This is the same LORD that delivered Israel from Egypt by mighty signs, miracles, and wonders; the same God that healed every one of them in the Passover, and led them through the Red Sea on dry ground, while Egypt’s chariots were destroyed in the sea.
“The LORD is with you” should have been all that Gideon needed to hear. God worked with Gideon to build his confidence that He was indeed with him. He brought him along one step at a time.
The LORD God said, “The people that are with you are too many for Me to give the Midianites into their hands, lest Israel vaunt themselves against Me, saying, ‘Mine own hand hath saved me.’ Now therefore go to, proclaim in the ears of the People, saying, ‘Whosoever is fearful and afraid, let him return and depart early from mount Gilead.” Twenty two thousand left, and ten thousand remained.
The LORD told Gideon, “The People are yet too many….” God cut the number of Israelites down to 300 men to fight against an army that was like grasshoppers for multitude; a multitude like the sand by the sea.
The victory would not come from the number of men, it would come from the LORD Who was with them.
Gideon overcame because the LORD was with him. Gideon listened to Him. The LORD was the One with the wisdom, the One with the power to deliver them. He led them to victory.
Gideon believed Him, and did as He said, and conquered his enemy against all the odds against them because He believed the LORD God was with Him.
The victory wasn’t in the odds; the victory was in the LORD Who was with them.
The LORD God is with us, dearly beloved. He said, “I am the LORD; I change not!” The LORD our God is the same today for us as He was for Gideon, and He is present to deliver us against whatever we may face.
The LORD God Almighty is our Father. We are born again of the spirit from Him. We are His habitation, His dwelling place by the spirit. We are of the household of God. Yes, He is with us, and He is for us. He will never leave us, nor ever, ever forsake us. We are His beloved children. Our help comes from the LORD.
The LORD is with us, dearly beloved. We can go forth in this our might, as Gideon did. Our might is in His presence in our lives. He is our sufficiency. He made us more than conquerors through him that loved us. Believe His Word. Pray to Him; He hears, and answers our prayers. He gives wisdom. He leads and guides us. Walk with Him.
He will make a way for you where there is no way, dearly beloved of God. Go to Him.
